Interesting that some have cheered when we have banned people in the past, not for a specific post, but a pattern of behaviour. One who cheered is at present taking a short break from the forum.
In such cases there is a lot of discussion between the mods and then action, after warnings have been given. Curiously, few complained about the process then. Anyway, back to the footy.....

I think that in those instances Channon it's because the 'crime' has been an obvious one (for instance, Duckhunter's continued inflammatory sexism being the most recent example I can think of).

Can a mod from a separate board/forum withdraw the ban?

I think it depends on who's holding the conch shell.

It's not unusual for me to see posts on here that I find rude, likely to provoke others or even offensive. I generally just move on because it's not that big a deal. But I would be happier, however slightly, if those posts stopped so maybe the lesson for me (and perhaps others) to take from this is that I need to hit that "report" button more often, establish a pattern of behaviour and get some more people banned.

    Sounds like fun!

I must say, and this is just a personal view, that perhaps modern societies natural start point of "offended" means that actually the report button is probably hit rather too often - in turn making mods jobs more difficult - rather than the far more sensible action of doing what you allude to in your first sentence.

There are many things that are truly 'offensive' in this world. People disagreeing with an opinion, or playing up a bit, really shouldn't be one of them.

I tend to agree. Which is why I just move on when I see things that bother me. I've been a member of several forums over the last 10 years or so and I've never reported a single post as far as I remember. More tolerance would be ideal for me but if two people whose posts I have never been remotely bothered by are going to be banned for repeated minor incidents then I reckon I should possibly start reporting the minor things I see other posters do. Perhaps then the posters that DO bother me (however slightly) will get banned themselves.

For example, I'm very uncomfortable with the way the term "bed wetter" is so often used (directly or indirectly) to describe someone who expresses a negative opinion or is worried about the club. I have no personal connection to anyone who's ever suffered from the problem but I do know bed wetting is actually considered a medical problem and something that I imagine causes a lot of distress to those who DO suffer from it. I've never reported a post that talks about "bed wetters" or floods of urine though. Perhaps I should start?

Well, this thread now comprises 10 pages on the original Lambert interview and 13 pages discussing non-footy stuff. I propose to close (note; not delete) this thread, probably sometime tomorrow, as we have the off-topic thread to discuss other stuff. If anyone has anything to add on the thread topic, then now would be a good time to get it down.

Well it's become the place where general forum issues that have arisen is being discussed Channon - not necessarily a bad thing and people know it's here. Again, only personal opinion, but I'd rather the (often interesting) off-topic thread wasn't polluted by this discussion.

There was a thread and a poll on the issue so as not to go off topic on here but you lot deleted it.

In this state, I don't think closing a thread where the moderation of this forum has come under scrutiny would be a good idea. If you were to, somehow I think you would need to at least allow this discussion to continue somewhere else, perhaps in another thread.

    Just my two pennies.

Nope you were right in the first paragraph. You can't start cracking down on things like 'bed wetter'. You will then have to warn people who say 'don't sweat' because some people do sweat profusely and might be offended. Can't say 'Calm down' because some people have medical conditions where they can't calm down. You could go on and on and on with this sort of thing that 'you can't say' for fear of offending people.

It was only a month or so ago that the 'c' word suddenly became the word of choice on this forum.

I can't for the life of me understand why this has become such a major issue on here. Those of you who aren't mods have no idea what the nature of the complaints and offenses was in the past and yet you act as if its a proven fact that Dan and Joe are innocent of any wrongdoing and are victims of persecution by power crazed officials.

I have been watching and posting on this forum for over a year and not once have I perceived anything that marks the moderators as biased, incompetent, malicious or in any way applying a double standard so if they say those banned had committed repeat offenses then that is good enough for me.

To be clear I have no issue with either of them and usually like both of their opinions. That said the fact that people were actually arguing that the ban should be overturned because they are prolific posters makes zero sense and I'm glad it isn't done that way...a members other quantitative and qualitative contributions are utterly irrelevant if the rules have been broken.

BTW can people cut out the oppressive regime bullshit. You can be angry at whomever you want but comparing the mods on a football forum to the Nazi's or some other regime is despicable and if you honestly feel that way then i suggest you take a break as well to re-prioritize you feeling towards the forum or learn a bit about history. Nazi squads did lots of things but one thing they didn't do is hand out ****ing 48hr bans to those that displease them. Its disgraceful and shows utter lack of respect to people who have endured such.

Rant nearly over but I'll add to the mods that like most people i don't think you should close this thread. I don't think this is going to go away yet and closing this forum will just add to the bitterness and make the subject leapfrog into other threads. This ones lost so just let everyone get it out and keep it contained to here.
