Tbf in the grand scheme of things you're in the mix and there's a fck of a long way to go. As I've said on the United board, I think the race for 3rd and 4th will likely be more exciting than the race for the title.

I hope you don't sort yourselves out before we play you though. Both have our faults, but as things stand we'd shade it I reckon, even with Sturridge back. For me, I only ever worried about Gerrard, but he looks a spent force in all honesty. He's actually affecting Henderson's game as well.

To be honest, yeah, we're ****. But we have ground out some wins while playing badly and bedding in a ton of new players. We've had some key players out with injury and others have only just began to find match form, or are returning from lengthy spells out.

One thing I hate is how quickly everyone has turned against our own players. Remember how much we used to laugh at the opposition for bashing their own players? We aren't supposed to be like that. You might not like Balotelli and you might not think he's playing well (he obviously isn't), but some of the **** on here is ridiculous. People slagging him off seem to be spoiled by Suarez who provided everything for himself and others. Sure, he missed a few sitters. But to be fair everyone is giving him the Carroll treatment. "Oh, he's a big guy up front? CLEARLY we need to play 19th century British hoofball as that will really help him get into positions to score". Yeah, no. How many through balls has he had? How many times has a player been in a great position to pass it to Balo and thought, nah **** it I"ll do it myself?

He's not Johnson to have put in YEARS of poor performances or Downing who got a couple seasons of people saying "well, he's ****, but he had one successful cross out of 13 today, better than usual maybe we should give him more time". Where is that level of support? Allen, who seems to be flavour of the month despite playing the way he always does (better to be fair) got plenty of time to prove himself without being told to **** off and how we should sell him ASAP. Markovic, a 20 year old winger who has played a handful of games, is apparently **** at life, a flop, a waste of 20m.

Get a grip. It's early. We've had injuries. We're grinding out wins while playing Johnson and Skrtel (who by the way, doesn't get as much stick anymore despite being... decent at best). Individual players are showing slight signs of improvement. I know Rodgers has to fix things, and we're not looking great for the Madrid game. But we've gone through rough spells before and come out worse.

    Couldn't agree more danilo <ok>

This season was always going to be difficult to take because we were great last season and lost one of the best players on earth.

And yeah we're stuck with the players we've got so we have to just get behind them! Back to back wins, key players missing, winning after an international break, not just giving up in the dying minutes when QPR kept equalising!

Could be a lot lot worse

May be crap but we're tied for 4th place crap. :D

    Our rivals are crap too.

We've had an injury crisis and missed our best player (the only one who can score goals) for most of the season.

We're crap but I'm optimistic for top 4.

Come on, Danilo, step down from that high horse a second.

Balotelli has done far less than just miss a few sitters. I don't give a crap that he misses sitters because everyone does during their career. What I DO mind, is the laziness and above all else, the arrogance he has when he stands still to collect the ball to feet only for him to blaze it wide/over from 40yards when other players are in good positions or have made runs. Never mind the moaning he does when he doesn't get the ball and someone else shoots smacks of hypocrisy. He's an alright player and always has been. He's over hyped from a few worldies which anyone can score with enough efforts on goal for that one fluke shot, unfortunately, he believes his own hype and it comes through as arrogance. He's not a team centred player unlike the rest of our team so he doesn't gel too well. Through balls are hard to play when he's standing still during attacks (although I concede that he does work hard defensively with running back and closing down). We do play through balls, Sterling had at least two played to him in the last 15 minutes because, unlike Mario, he runs beyond defenders and our midfielders can then pick that pass. No one expects him to be the next Suarez, just to work for the team and have some effort with less arrogance. I like Borini for that reason and will support him tirelessly despite his 'missed sitters' in the past.

Selective memory RE Downing. He had plenty of vitriol aimed at him in his time and was accused of having no bottle.

Allen isn't flavour of the month either, he's just got legs which is a crucial element of our game - pressing. Those who didn't rate Allen previously (myself included here) haven't suddenly come around to the light, he's still an average player and nothing more. He has legs and can run, Gerrard cannot and unless your entire midfield 3 presses, closes down and plugs gaps in equal measures, you'll have gaps. Allen, therefore, is simply the best we have for now - not a sudden revelation or realisation that he lad is supremely talented. He works hard and runs and I'll support him for that for as long as he plays for us, but it doesn't mean I have to come here and herald his name from the high heavens. He's still just average - average players work well in teams in a mix of talent.

I agree with you that we're playing ****, that it's early, we've had crucial injuries, still got lots of new players to bed in properly and yet we're still in the mix despite playing awfully through grinding out wins - but please don't be all high and mightly and fall back on the age old 'supporting every player wearing the shirt' when, frankly, it's a discussion forum for different opinions where fans can be honest about their feelings and thoughts and nothing I, or others, say on here changes how we support the team when it comes to the games. In my opinion, some players simply don't deserve to wear the shirt - two of them - and it has nothing to do with their quality or price tag but everything to do with what effort I expect of players privileged enough to wear the red shirt.

sooooo... we are better than spurs and arsenal... fanboy here like that!

last year.... we look 10/12 then 7/12..... that was 17 out of 24. this year...ok we took a poor 6 out of 12 first and now 7/12... thats 4 points worse off than last year... we are still in the league cup though!

now last year we took 7/12 form the 3rd block of 4... our next 4 games have hull, newcastle, chelsea and palace so we need 9/12 from this set to get back on track... hard... but hardly impossible.

All we need to do is admit the weaknesses and address..... set piece.. therefore no corners allowed and drop badontelly.

  11. Although I don't agree entirely, good post <applause>

I've not turned on any of our players. I defended most from others too. The only one I moan about is the one I never wanted and knew wouldn't fit. Fact is, I'm not having a pop at Balotelli (although inadvertently I am), I'm having a dig at Brod for signing him in the first place :)

  13. I don't keep telling you, I've put my hands up a couple of times due to the success Coutinho and Sturridge have had. However, I still maintain my reasoning for both too!

Only positive is that FSG scrutinise Brendans transfer requests in more detail before parting with the cash. His transfer dealings have been shocking apart from Studge and Ford. This is the guy who bought Borini having worked with him at two clubs, played him one season and then did all he could to shift him on. Same with Hendo.....wanted him to be a make weight to get Dempsey. Thank god he didnt go.

We've been ****e all season apart from one game, and yet we're 5th.
That's a positive, in my book.

The big positive is that I haven't thrown the remote at my television watching our defending... Yet.

I agree that the football that we are serving up so far this season is absolute pants. I'd love to be able to define exactly why that is and suggest ways to rectify matters - but I can't! I do however agree with those who contend that it is pointless bashing individual players. I strongly doubt (including Balotelli) that any of them go onto the pitch wanting to play badly or totally disinterested.

Yes we do have injuries and we are suffering from a general lack of form throughout the team. We all knew in our heart of hearts that it was going to be very difficult to come even close to last season's level of performance and it has proved to be so. However, we bought good players over the Summer and that quality will begin to come through as those players gain fitness and adapt to our systems. It's far too easy to start to write these players off.

The laughable thing is that even though we have been playing pants we are still 5th in the table!! That just shows you how truly pants United, Everton, Arsenal, Spurs, etc. truly have been at the start of this season.

I truly believe that we can improve dramatically but I doubt that some of the sides named above can.

We really can't get much worse, can we?

    Positives for me:

Sterling and Coutinho looked brilliant and our only source of creativity at the moment. Lallana is a good player but I don't think he will ever be as good Coutinho, and Phil should be starting more often.

Phil may not be in the best of form, but he should be included to ensure stability in a team that is bedding in a lot of new players. QPR played quite a high line and the Liverpool last season would have ripped them apart with throughballs.

Glad to see Can, who looked rusty but solid with some good runs. And glad to see Allen back - hopefully these two can shore up the midfield.

Another positive is that hopefully fans can finally see what liabilities Skrtel and Enrique are - Enrique in particular who is completely clueless on the ball and is such a poor defender, bar shielding the ball.

Johnson was possible the best defender on the pitch - which isn't a compliment because he was sh*te as well but f*ck me, the other 3 are garbage. Lovren has such poor judgement, it's unreal.

Migs pulled off some great saves but his overall performance was poor - he was rooted to his line and you can sense the panic when the ball goes in the box and the centre backs don't know what to do with it.

Overall, we still got the points which is all that matters. We cannot keep playing with a lone striker because it's simply not suited to Mario and the whole team is struggling as a result. Bite the bullet, let Sterling play up top with Mario, Lallana at the tip of the diamond.
