Swansea City plot Mario Gomez swoop.

Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has reportedly emerged as a January transfer window target of Swansea City.

The 29-year-old has struggled for form and fitness since his arrival from Bayern Munich and has netted just five goals for the Viola.

According to Football Italia, there are reports from Italy that claim the Swans have made a move for the German international as they look to replace Manchester City bound Wilfried Bony.

Gomez has scored 25 goals in 60 games for Germany, but he was not part of his country's winning World Cup squad last summer.

At 29 it would be a risk as he may not regain the form that made him one of the most feared strikers in Europe but on the other hand if he does bang them in he would be a brilliant aquisition.

I suppose it depends on the price could be a very good signing. We are being linked to a lot of strikers. I know Bony has gone but does this make anyone think there may be some strength in the Gomis going rumours.

Top player at Bayern and with Germany but just looked at his Wiki page and he's only made 21 appearances since summer 2013, and in those only scored 4.

We want young ambitious players that can do a job for us and then we can sell on at a profit and not sign players on the downward slide.

If we do need an older player on very high wages and inflated fee as a stop gap I'd prefer Cisse.

You cant survive withjust young inexperienced players. You also need experienced pro's as well to provide a good balance. I am not saying this is a good signing, but just to sign young players would soon see us relegated.

The point I was trying to make is that we have older more experienced players such as Ash, Angel, Leon, Routledge etc. and need younger players now to blend in with them before they finish and we are left with only inexperienced players.

And the 4 you named don't do to bad considering they are as you put it players on a downward slide.

Could it be a loan deal until end of season?

I would only take him on a loan deal until the end of the season, as long as his wages fall within our limits.................<ok>

There's something about the premier league that automatically motivates you.. On form Mario Gomez age 29 would not be bad at all.. Actually it'd be great!

    I'd imagine he'd want a huge wage.

When you look at the monies being paid to player's for kicking a ball around,it's not too difficult to see why the World is so ****ed up.
