'QPR aren't very good. In fact, they're quite terrible. They have the Premier League's second-worst points-per-game rate, have given up by far the most goals, and look generally incompetent performing many of the duties usually required of an EPL-quality club. But goddammit if they aren't the most entertaining side among the drearily boring relegation threats, and mainly for that reason, we're hoping they can bungle their way into safety.' Continued...

Nice find, I really enjoyed that, the US commitment to statistics, entertainment and scoring writ large. Good to know we are making someone happy.

Loved it....but obviously not talking about my team.
A team dedicated to attacking...did Arry tell them that?

But loved the statistics about us being defensively bad but so good at attacking....No sure it is not us...

What complete and utter tosh!!! What our American friend doesn't mention is that if you take away our losses and draws our record reads thus...........

    WWWWWWW

Joking aside that was a fun article to read, and much better than the serious wannabe hacks that we get on here. Nice find N22.

I was born in a bordercty ( Windsor -Canadian side at Detroit) and now work in another (Sarnia at Port Huron, Michigan). I don't often claim to be an almost American, but in this instance maybe I'll lighten up - a little bit

Reading those Americanisms almost made me nostalgic for that Norwich fan's match previews, I wonder if we'll be reading one of his next year? As to the content, its nice to read a neutral backing us after years of fear and loathing for our supposed wealth. My only worry is that the way he talks about us is reminiscent of how people talked of Ollie's Blackpool that year they were in the premiership (with Matt Phillips on the wing). And look what happened to them...

I also likened it to Blackpool as you did N22, but only under Ramsey. Redknapp made us boring and down, Ramsey makes us exciting and down.

Don't most of them just support Manchester United and Chelsea?

I was in New York City when we played Man U in the game where Derry got sent of for Ashley Young diving. I had to wake up and get to the pub quite early for the game. I was the only one supporting QPR in a fairly busy room.

"The best part about QPR is that they are the rare team that combines atrocious defending with pretty effective attacking."

N22hoop, thanks for a very interesting article.

Please post more if you find it!

Maybe it shows that Americans though still talking soccer, are getting smart about the game.

I have a friend in Kansas City who has stuck with that town's generally hapless professional sports teams through thick and thin. He's actually a native of Detroit and therefore also follows the NFL's hapless Lions franchise. Since being introduced to QPR by yours truly, he has really identified with our club and with its trials and tribulations.

Very good American friend of mine follows the Chicago Cubs baseball team, who haven't won anything since 1908. He watches us on the telly on Saturday mornings their time and texts me things like 'For ****'s sake' and ' go back to the pub' while I'm at the game. But he always watches.

Yes, I think they are becoming quite knowledgeable. I remember going to see New York Red Bulls play an MLS match in 2011 when we were top of the Championship. I was wearing a QPR hat and lots of the locals in the ground stopped me to discuss us being top of the Championship. They knew all about us even though we were were not a Premiership club.

One of my favourite "U RRRRRssss from a stranger" moments came at a Miami Dolphins game a few years ago. I was wearing a retro hooped shirt and was spotted from many yards away by a Swedish-born Florida resident who rushed up the gangway to shout out the familiar war cry/greeting we know and love. We exchanged a few pleasantries before getting back to the business of watching a seemingly endless sequence of 4-5 yard gains from hard-running reefer aficionado Ricky Williams.
