There are quite a few doom mongers out there but it's not all that bad. We would all like QPR to strengthen but I just don't thinks it's going to happen to the extent we would like. Bernie and Flavio aren't going to spend any money if they are trying to sell. However don't look at the top of the premiership as we are nowhere near teams like Arsenal and Man City. But there are a lot of mediocre teams in there as well: Wolves Wigan Blackburn Bolton Newcastle WBA Swansea Norwich Surely outperforming just 3 of the above can't be that difficult Let's have a bit more optimism. The fact is Bernie, Flavio et al will have left before too long and we will still be supporting QPR
I think the only teams we are near at present are Norwich and Swansea and they've both strengthened their squads, so without at least 5 new faces we'll be propping up the table from early on which is bloody annoying considering the opposition we face in the first six.
Have you completely gone off your Rocker? Maybe you've been on the oxygen machine in your gym class. Whatever your case Arnie, sort yourself out quick or you could end up at the Funny Farm. All those teams you mentioned bar Norwich and Swansea (who've both strengthened already) are Premiership sides who have spent millions on their respective sides. Even the least of them, Wigan, just spent 4 million quid on a Goalkeeper for fu*ks sake!! The situation is clear, as it is for EVERY promoted side to the Premiership: Invest in good players or you will be relegated straight away. As for your last point, I'm with you there friend that's for sure. Just lay off the wacky backy would ye? Schools tomorrow
Stop talking rubbish, I can see Gorkks getting roasted by Ishmael Miller already. We are nowhere near any of them teams they have all apart from Wigan strengthened.
We are all frustrated but lets not lose the plot. We are not a terrible side after all. I remembered reading this excellent article from Loft for Words on how to survive in the premiership http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...what_next_three_premiership_coping_strategies I'm not going to pass judgment on the team until at least the season starts
It's looking bad at the moment transfer wise, without investment and with our current squad will be relegated, this is so frustrating after the relief and optimism of the last game of the season
Sorry mate, if this was true then every time a team got relegated out the Prem they would bounce straight back up with 100 points from the Championship. Remind me again where Burnley, Hull and Portsmouth finished in the Championship that we won last season....? Yeh we need to strengthen, but to say the team who took us up couldn't keep up us is just bollocks. Sorry.
Got to agree with Swords on this one. I think the author of this thread quite possibly knows nothing at all about football! Bakes....I take your point mate, but I feel we will go straight back down if we play in the prem with the team that won the Championship. That's even more certain if, as seems likely, we lose Tarbs. In my opinion, These are the players that we could retain in the team: Kenny Gorkks Hill(at centre back) Derry Faulin Smith Tarrabt This leaves us needing 2 full backs, a wide midfielder and a forward. Bothroyd could be the forward and Mackie could maybe be the wide midfielder. Buz could maybe take Tarb's place. The team would then look like this: Kenny Orr Gorkks Hall Hill Derry Faulin Smith Buz Mackie Bothroyd Straight back down then!! Imagine the likes of Rooney etc coming at that back 4. Makes my blood run cold!
Agreed rangercol Our defence at the moment would be simular to Blackpools of last season Mind you they did nearly stay up
It finishes with: "My biggest fear is we take the negatives from the three plans above and none of the positives. Wouldn’t it be just like QPR to saddle themselves with some big earning mercenaries from plan A, take the relegation from plan B and do the same tight arsed thing Blackpool did this season except the majority of the Premiership money goes to Ecclestone and Briatore who recoup all the loans they have put into the club and leave it to go back to the Championship with a massive wage budget and no money? That’s the big fear. "
Im not saying we would stay up with the side we currently have, I'm saying we have a chance. We were the best side in our league last season and I don't believe Swans and Norwich have improved their squads to better ours IMO. Obviously playing the likes of Man U + Arsenal is gonna be tough with this bunch of players, but it's the same for all the teams in the bottom half of the prem. Blackburn, Wigan, Norwich, Swansea et all are in the same boat. We do need to strenghthen, but I dont believe this squad is as big a no-hopers as everyone is making out.
'We do need to strenghthen, but I dont believe this squad is as big a no-hopers as everyone is making out.' Bakes - Nail + Head mate. Too many open chequebook merchants here I reckon. A massive part of our potential success next season rests in Neil's motivation of the squad a la Blackpool / Holloway last season. Just humour me for a minute and assume we sign Bothroyd / DJ / Bullard and a couple of loanee foreign starlets. That coupled with existing playing squad plus some grit and self-belief is enough to stay up. Warnock does though need to get 100% from Buz / Hogan / Hulse which he struggled to do last season and have a better rotation policy with the likes of PVM, Alberti and Troy etc etc which I think he was loathe to do last season with a winning side.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing their's, you probably don't understand the situation...
Some people aren't taking into account, that the source/provider of about 40 of our goals last season is leaving!
Sorry WBA but I have arrived at the conclusion that you're a wee bit of a nitwit. How anyone could post that with a straight face beggars belief. The only other possible explanation for your hairbrained ideas is that you are indeed having a great big laugh behind your computer screen once you've hit the reply button.
Don't agree at all with some of these posts ... all take a deep breath we are in the premier league and now we are already relegated or we need to spend millions .. we don't because its all hype we have a good team even without Adel and I am looking forward to my fellow fans eating their own words ... we will finish mid table without buying a player .. The premiership sure has the pressure but apart from the big six we are a better team unit as a team ... its great to read all of this but its close season and the rubbish that is generated is laughable. these players as a team will step up watch them and then say sorry
I though I was a nincompoop?? Anyway Tarararabat last time I looked was still a QPR player and I believe 100% that Flav will screw up any transfer through sheer greed......if he wants £100m for the club and I've read somewhere he wants £18m for Le Sulk Swords I'll say it again as you're not listening - -Transfer window doesnt close til August -We have a very good core squad -Bern & Flav (or a new owner) will buy / take loan players before the Bolton game You're too quick to throw in the towel mate. Have a little faith
