Hi, not posted a thread in a long time, don't post much at all these days but enjoy reading on a daily basis.

Just wondered if anyone wanted to tell any unusual Saints related stories. Maybe an unusual meeting of a player or a quirky match memory.

I will start with a little story of how little Marian Pahars whacked me with his umbrella.

Now you're probably picturing something Looney toonsesque, in reality it was nothing of the sort.

I worked in a sports shop when he signeds and he came in with his brolley tucked under his arm. He was looking at some clothes near where I was tidying and as he turned around, the brolley spike whacked me and he immediately appologised in his best english.

I think I may have done that classic British thing of apologising back even though I did nothing wrong.

I remember Carlton Palmer dancing in a nightclub. That was pretty amusing to watch. Like a drunken giraffe.

I saw one or two funny things at Staplewood when I reffed the academy games.

In League 1 we were playing Yeovil on the Monday where we got pretty much promoted, and the team travelled on Sunday. As the coach rolled out the front gate Aaron Martin was sprinting behind it trying to get on.

There was a strange looking paddling pool with a hose sticking out of it outside one of the old blocks. After a long time Adam Lallana walked out of the changing rooms in some Y fronts, clearly didn't expect such a big audience, and scarpered back in.

In the first season up we had I think 4 points from 10 games, next up was QPR away in the dreadfully named "El Sackio". They were rebuilding Staplewood so the officials had to change miles away, near where the first team were training. I was early and one of the security guys looked at me as if he wasn't sure whether to stop me. As I turned the corner I saw a short guy in a suit and a tanned guy in tracksuit with silvery hair. So I sheepishly walked past Nicola giving Nigel a one way conversation about the upcoming game. I was pretty terrified but I expect Nige wanted to be there even less than me.

Got a couple. Back in my "when I grow up I want to be DTLW" days I interviewed Dave Jones at the training ground to try and pitch something to the magazines. They'd just finished training and were on to the food in the cafeteria (beans on toast, since you ask!) Carlton Palmer lolloped over midway through the interview and stood there going "Gaffer......gaffer......" - Jones was paying no attention as he was midway through an answer. Eventually he sought of sighed and looked at Palmer. "Gaffer, can I have some chips with this. They won't give me chips".

Fair to say, he wasn't the brightest.

I think I've told this one already, but I also went to the opening of Matty's failed nightclub venture with Mike Osman, Celebrations. The night doubled up as Alan Ball's 50th birthday, so all the players, Alan and a load of players from history were there (I had a piss next to Peter Rodrigues. He's one of those odd people that quite likes a chat whilst they wee). It was a cracking night - had a great chat with everyone including Matty who I tried to buy a beer for (he doesn't drink beer), ending up with a Malibu and coke. I mainly hung out with Magilton and Maddison though, who were a number of sheets to the wind. Anyhow, at the end of the evening I was chatting to Matty and told him that my parents had booked a table for my 21st the following week which he was very grateful for. When I got there the next week, there was a copy of the video of "Unbelievable" on the table - signed with "To LTL, Happy 21st, All The Best, Matt Le Tissier".

    What a gent.

A great shame that I leant the video to a guy who found out that I had shagged his girlfriend, so never did get it back. Karma!

I've got a great England one, but I'll save I til we do the England stories ... ended up about to get on the England players coach after losing to Portugal at Euro 2000.

    Saints one.
Played Crazy Golf at Sandbanks, with Andy Townsend and his young kid and wife playing just behind us. No-one else on the little course. He was just leaving for Norwich I think and I asked him not to go. I should have asked him to take all his coaching badges so that he got a job coaching after playing and didn't need to torment us with his commentary.

Well she wanted seconds (*polishes badge*) but was denied. Hence why she told the boyfriend. Not the greatest logic, granted.

Franny Benali was doing his run last year and I know a fella who was helping him as part of his entourage for the last few days. I told him that if when Franny got on the pitch at St Mary's, and he announced that I was the best player he ever played with :))) then I'd donate 100 quid. The day before the Newcastle game (that's the game Franny was due to arrive) my phone rang and it was Franny!!!! I was like a gibbering school boy as Franny just asked some polite "How do you dos" and agreed that I should cough up the 100 quid anyway!

I then spent the next 20 minutes telling anyone I could find that Franny Benali had just called me!

Oooooooo, my dad lent Mick Channon a copy of Benny Hill's "Ernie the Fastest Milkman in the West". We never got it back, I hope not due to similar shenanigans.

In 2011, I met Dan Harding in the car park at St Mary's on a dark October night... he was trying to sell my mate's Dad his car and I happened to be in Southampton and was able to "view' the car on my mate's Dad's behalf as they live in Northampton.

Dan then phoned my two days later when I was about to start a Board meeting to see if they were going to buy the car... I just said to the people in the meeting. "O h that's my mate Dan Harding from SFC"

She was mad as a box of frogs actually. I ended up having to block her from all forms of communication.

Great stories so far, keep them coming, good to see we've reached sex stories already! Although if someone literally reads my original post and this post, they will wonder which poster shagged which player!

We can move on from sex to drugs? I was at Cream nightclub in it's heyday in Liverpool in the 90s. There were a couple of the Spice Boy contingent of Liverp**l quite openly doing lines of coke with some girls on the stairs.

Far be it from me to reveal who though.
