Benteke looked quality last night. Power, pace, trickery, bizzarely all he was missing was his finishing (which we know is there so not too much to be concerned about).

I honestly believe that if we can get Sturridge fit and alongside him that it has potentially to be the best strike partnership in the league, the two of them combined have a bit of everything, I'd love us to revert back to the diamond when worked so well in the 13/14 season. Something along the lines of..

    ---------Can---------
    Hendo-----Coutinho
    --------Firmino--------
    ---Studge--Benteke--

Honestly think line-up has so much potential, you could even put Lucas at the base there instead of Can. Ok Milner misses out but do we really need to shoe horn in every player?

Think Sturridge has become the forgotten man to some extent, but if we nurture him and the op has worked as well as the Liverpool staff claim then we can really push on for a top four spot.

I am looking forward to seeing them both in the team if Studge can stay fit. They will create more space for each other and we have Studge to run onto Benteke headers too, something we were missing yesterday

I really don't know this is the case. I think it's a fairly big assumption.

I'd like to see Firmino a bit more first.

I(f he earns it with performances mate. I didn't think he did that well yesterday going forward, he worked hard though and gave Clyne a lot of cover, lot to be said for that <ok>

Amazed seeing the term shoe horned when in effect you've just don't that to get sturridge in and move coutinho to a worse position for him

I'd rather see the team we played last night a bit more and as I said henderson box to box and can holding.

Coutinho as an AM then, Milner or Can in, Lucas DM. Plenty of variables, but it's more the partnership and formation I'd like us to focus on. Under our Rodgers, the 4-3-1-2 was HIS best formation, and understood it well and despite losing Suarez, now we have to decent full backs I think we'll be able to strike a good balance with it.

Not at all MITO, I think Coutinho is best on the left side, slightly deeper where he can run with it and advance in to space. Sturridge is hardly shoe horned in as he's best with a strike partner? Lucas as the deep lying CM, think everyone fits the role well.

  10. Apart from through injury or suspension, there is absolutely no way Milner will be dropped. If we went for that set up then Hendo would be in the holding role, Milner where you've but Hendo with Can missing out...

    Migs
    Clyne - skrtel - Lovren - Gomez
    Hendo
    Milner - - - - - Coutinho
    Firmino
    Studge - Benteke

    OR....

sturridge has to actually earn his place

    Mingolet
    Clyne Skrtel Lovren Gomez
    Can
    Milner Henderson
    Firmino Benteke Coutinho

    I firmly believe

    1. Can is best suited to holding role. Can't see why people call him anything else
    2. Firmino barely merits the slot I've shown above but what has sturrdige done? over a year out in effect = start again
    3. Coutino played brilliant at left side yesterday FFS.... this is his best slot.. none of this no 10 no 8 bolloxology. He's a left side forward who cuts in and has a serious threat in that role.

I think too deep and you rob his main threat. he's a left forward

You play your best players. <ok>

For me, we set up as a 4-3-3:

    GK and defence is standard.

    Can holding
    Milner or Hendo + Coutinho

Front trio of Sturridge, Benteke and Firmino.

You will have 3 players who want to score goals and get into the box, and get close to Benteke.

Coutinho is best as a number 8. You cannot have Henderson and Milner playing alongside each other - yes, it actually would work but not as good as we can be. Milner and Hendo simply cannot get the ball forward quick enough and they can't run with the ball.

Can or Coutinho in a CM position is crucial.

  14. Of course he would have to earn his place, that's a given. If he can return to the level he was playing before then he will be in the first XI

  15. And your best player vary throughout the season depending on form, injuries, etc.

    yup..

until these guys see sturridge play they are making giant assumptions. it'll only take one game to know where he is at.

for all we know he'll be the english falcao and end up on loan at AC milan alongside balotelli

Of course - not saying Sturridge comes straight back in. He obviously needs to be eased in because of the injuries. But Rodgers should be looking at how to fit him into the attack.

    He'll be good in a front 3.

  20. Its quite possibly that Studge doesn't develop a understanding with Benteke, Firmino, Coutinho (its been a while) etc and therefore we'd have a better team with Danny in it.

I don't think that will be the case though. I think he and Benteke will form a good partnership and we Coutinho can play with pretty much anyone that is willing to actually move.
