"Chris Ramsey, predictably, was sacked as head coach of the QPR first team on Wednesday evening. But those rejoicing in his demise are placing too much faith in a board that has shown no ability to turn the club around.

The news that Chris Ramsey is being “relieved of the first team duties” at QPR is the least surprising development since Sandro cried off for another few weeks with the sort of ankle bruise infant school pupils pick up on the playground all the time and think nothing of. Since Neil Warnock arrived with “no interest in returning to management” in an advisory capacity a fortnight back it’s been a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’."

Finally someone seeing what I'm seeing and been saying for a while.

"Firstly, some of these players are nowhere near as good as QPR believe them to be.

All of these players were here when QPR finished last in the Premier League last season. Of them, only Charlie Austin can be said to have shown he was worthy of the top division. Why do we suddenly expect them to tear this division apart? Because we’re paying Premier League money for them? That’s our fault for overpaying."

Insightfull and good article from CW. Painfull reading but very much on the money.

Good state of the nation piece. Obviously no point worrying about who the next manager will be, under the current set up they are destined to fail.

Regarding whether the players are any good or not, the question which CW answers is how poorly run must the club be to consistently, unerringly buy and over pay players who were either never any good or so inconsistent to make no difference?

    Wow
    I have seen the light
My point is again that I would love to read a vision rather than a history summary . It contributes to what?

Well I believe it's just someone trying to own our clubs despair. It's a culture thing IMO even if we play well and win rarely at LFW do they celebrate with sincere joy ... Always comes with a final health warning

It's similar as a child opening up a wonderful present only to face adult advice that you must look after that gift ... It's a Anglo Saxon conditioning

QPR fans have been subjected to all sorts but we have our most successful manager back in recent times

We have very good players at QPR currently You cannot buy team spirit
I see it as simple as that

This Clive increasingly doesn know what what **** he's talking about. Dangerously narrow and warped view. Irresponsible considering amount of Rangers fans reading this. He is a victim of what he says in his own article, "You become entrenched in your view, it becomes extreme". So he has his blinkers on.

One more current example, of him not getting it is his worries about loans being borrowed against Air Asia Shares not actually owned by TF. This is simply concern for Credit Suisse it I not a concern for anyone else. Simplest comparison is its the equivalent of someone building a block of flats, selling a chunk of these flats and then taking a loan out against the values of those flats they dont directly own, but as they don't own them the bank can't come along and take those flats. It is the banks own reckless lending. Steps are being taken to hook the loan privately but again no link to Rangers. The only link is less money can be thrown at the club perhaps but surely that's only a positive in Clive's view.

Also disgraceful to say that TV money was from what Bhatia and Warnock achieved for 3 out the last 4 years. Lots wrong here. Firstly when TF came in he kept us up. Now when you look at the team that came up. We only went up because of Adel. The biggest impact any player had on the team in 40 years. He was a one off, chairman's deserve no credit here. It was the sort of player we stumble on every 20 years or so if we are lucky. That's what got us up.

Look at; - Palace, Zaha BolasiE, - Swansea Williams, Rangel, Britton, Dyer. Leicester; Vardy, Drinkwater, Mahrez etc.

TF didnt inheret a team that will form our backbone for years. Our one standout after the promotion year from that team was Faurlin and he did his ACL in Jan.

Another good example of handicap from previous board from a team single handledly carried up (take Adel out that team and it wasnt even a play off team let alone champs) is Routledge.

Routledge. Stand out player in class below Adel. Ours for £1.5m but the current board including Bhatia wouldn't pay for him. So as our transfer window and targets passed us by TF came in with a scatter gun approach but it worked. We stayed up (Clive seemingly forgets this).

Hughes, an appointment who no one can moan at without hindsight and who after a period of low turnover has actually gone trigger happy with signings again this summer at Stoke. TF gave money to men with good reputations and trusted them. It's normal in business to buy into areas you have no experience but then put people with experience in charge and you provide the money while they get on with it. A Middle Eastern client of mine do this to great effect. TF put faith in Hughes and Hughes ****ed it up. Then faith put in Harry and Harry ****ed it up. TF buys Mbia and Granero, two top class players but through a combination of bad luck and **** managers for us they arent that great and other bell ends get picked ahead of them. More bad luck as well that he gets pelters for. Remy supposed to leave in July for no loss. Gets arrested for rape. No side will touch him. So goes on loan. Next year he fails a medical at Liverpool. Torres leaves Chelsea late in summer we lose him. If it wasn't for a rape case he would have left a year before!

Then we keep high earners and manage to get promoted. Just. But we did. TF gave me best day ever as a Rangers fan. Then again more shopping praised on all the forums. We actually gave it an 8 out of 10 on here!!!!

    http://www.not606.com/threads/rate-our-transfer-window-out-of-10.275981/

Surely this is more evidence of a chairman doing his part and the manager ****ing it up?! But Redknapp then Ramsey ****ed it up. As a chairman he gave them a Chilean International right back but Ramsey played a kid who's now at Northampton. He gives them a player of the quality of Zarate. The manager picks Reece Greggo-Cox?!

The first bad appointment without hindsight was Ramsey. But Clive at the time couldn't even see this "So it's difficult to be too critical of today's news that Chris Ramsey, as expected, has been made the permanent head coach at QPR on a three year contract. After all, it's clearly part of a plan"

    http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/...-article-regarding-Ramsey-from-Loft-for-Words

If we get a decent manager in I will take a tiny bit of extra pleasure in the proof that we do actually have a team that with a decent manager will breeze it's way up this league.

Hopefully this is contributed to by players like Luongo and Chery maybe even Smithies and also Phillips and Austin who all perfectly demonstrate that the valid criticisms are outdated.

He may also want to acknowledge for a balanced piece the £60m of debt written off in the summer that maybe our overlords aren't so evil after all

Would love it if he took some of the views above into consideration as the hounding of TF is dangerous. There is a serious amount of debt they have responsinility for but there is a danger that if they are bullied too much they will simply walk away and write of their losses. Then we go out of business. So why not look at recent evidence, transfer business going the right way, writing off loans, no longer throwing silly money at idiots and not punish and bring up issues from 4 years ago

    Gre
    great post Mr Peter
I would only differ on a few things re Ramsey ... We wanted fresh new and Unknown ... Most of us because we add purchased expensive greedy flops who ignore everything apart from money
Taarabt stills remains my all time best player at our club and yes he got us up only for most QPR fans to eat him and most other players also

I hope in time a QPR fan will understand what all these events have done

I will watch tomorrow at LR to see if there is a positive change

It's new and we all move on

i am in complete agreement with pete damage clives just spouts off ,hes completely wrong most of the time,

he may have sensational writing skills but that dosnt mean he knows anything at all about football

simplicity is genius manager s have to have experience holloway brought blackpool up into the prem
warnock has brought so many clubs up into higher divisions so the obvious choice for qpr is to pair up the two of them

Obvious really. It's not the fault of Hughes, Redknapp, etc. but the businessmen who gave them the billions to play with and who have the temerity to want to build their brands while trying to bring success to a small football club.

Well reasoned post by Peter Damage. I was a TF supporter during the Hughes era. Warnock did not seem to have it in him to make that leap from Championship to Premier League (although he was shafted by being given such a small window to buy players in, after the Goon sale). I approved of the Hughes appointment, and still don't know quite why he failed with us, except that obviously some of his purchases were wide of the mark. He seems to perform better inheriting a decent team...! Stoke had Pulis written all over it when he went in.

I went along with Redknapp coming in. TF knows f*ck all about football, so he has to find someone to trust - shame it was Harry

But the Ramsey appointment - especially after all the "dream manager" stuff - was just lost on me. The Mittals, Amit particularly, seem to have a better grasp of what it is to run a football club than Fernandes. I just hope all our owners are putting their heads together collectively to find the best manager - not the most expensive or the longest in the tooth or necessarily the one readily available - young, ambitious, relatively unknown but having demonstrated sufficiently with a former club that they have managerial acumen e.g. strategic and tactical understanding of the game, good man-management and team building skills, ability to buy reasonably priced players and bring them on etc

How stupid of me to think that the head of the organisation, the person who sanctions all major decisions, the man who sets the strategy and direction and signs off the accounts, the bloke who selects and appoints the people to run things, should have any accountability for the performance and culture of the business. Of course if he was an employee rather than owner doubtless he would have attracted mega bonuses over the last few years, and not the sack.

And of course, if the miracle happens and we are promoted, all that extra TV money will be reinvested in the squad and club, not in paying back any of the £250m (minimum) loan that has so conspicuously developed the infrastructure and facilities of the club and set the foundation of a positive and profitable youth policy and created an attractive high quality first team squad, all contributing to the fabulous match day experience the fans have been so lucky to have over the last 5 season.

Truly we are blessed. How obvious it is that any fleeting problems we may appear to have will be instantly solved by the appointment of a football coach whose name isn't Chris Ramsey. Forgive me Tone, for harbouring any doubts. In the kingdom of the blind.........

    [/QUOTE]

What's the logic here? We would have been a better sign if we signed another Rob Steiner, Zesh Rehman or Bob Malcolm far more suited to a club of our size than a Charlie Austin, Remy or Cisse?

Assuming you've had a couple of lunch time sherberts because you are normally quite a reasoned poster but that post is overly dramatic and doesn't actually address anything of mine or any of the other posts above points raised that you seem to be responding to

-What about TF's time in charge makes you think if we do get promoted funds will just be used to pay down debt?
    - is it fair to say it's an exaggeration to say that it's a 'miracle' if a squad containing Austin, Chery, and Fer (et al) were to get promoted?
    - Considering we got promoted 2 years ago (bettering 94% of the 15 seaons preceeding TF's arrival) do you think any criticism's that year are
over the top and that also the manager was given the personel to turn in better football than he did?
    - Considering that we as a forum gave a ringing endorsement of the last 2 summer transfer window's that the chairman did his job, he was let down by the managers and that his real mistake apparent at the time to many was appointing Ramsey?
    - is it fair to say that the majority of your criticisms
are based on the 20\20 'kingdom' of hindsight?

Just because I don't walk in fear that Fernandes will leave, or I suspect more pertinently don't agree with your typically robust and black and white perspective, doesn't make me drunk. In fact I'm on my first glass of white of the day. Tasty.

We are deep in financial and performance ****. Fernandes is accountable. That's it. If he couldn't bust the club by walking away would you be asking us not to bully him?

The post was ironic, in a post modernist kind of way.

After the succession of managers & players that have performed well elsewhere but failed either before or after arriving at LR - the writing on the wall is that our problems are bigger than simply needing a new manager.

Thanks for pointing that out, Stan. With that degree of subtlety, it had flowed clean over me <laugh>

Decent post by the way. The biggest mistake Fernandes made was taking on a football club in the first place. Given his naivety in that respect, he didn't do badly for a while. It started going wrong during the Redknapp era because he trusted a manager who didn't give a sh1t and behaved as though he was doing Fernandes and the club a favour just being there.

Fernandes has not deserted a sinking ship - he can put it right with careful consideration now
