It's not looking good for us is it? Difficult to make the case that we will finish above any of Newcastle, Swansea or Bournemouth.
Has he **** - he instils something in the players that the twat mclaren doesn't - let's not give up the ghost yet
...and here we have the first of the aforesaid happy clappers, just what pray tell does Alex Neil 'instill' in his players after 5 defeats in a row conceding no less than SEVENTEEN goals ?
Whats the point of Mulumbu? He is worse than Dorrans and O'Neil!!! Hope we at least tried to strengthen the midfield in the window because if we didnt, someone at the club is blind!
Looks like the forum is going to slip into one of its classic post-defeat meltdowns. Think I'll stay clear for a few days...
When Mulumbu signed I said that I'd never heard of him but was told on here that he was a premier league quality player. Well it seems the reason I'd never heard of him was because he's no good, not even worthy of a place on WBA's bench
Look, it's pretty miserable yes, but the fact is we've been here already this season and recovered. Losing at home to the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City aren't really the measure of us staying up. Five wins will apparently statistically guarantee us safety. We have enough games left to find those five. It will be the losses to Bournemouth, Newcastle away that cost us if we go down. Or if we fail to beat Villa and Newcastle on our home turf. There's still lots to play for. No-one's happy clapping, it's pretty **** right now, but there are plenty of reasons to think we can scrape survival still.
You need more performances like that second half and less like the first. No idea why the players started so slowly, but they improved dramatically after the break. A bit of bedding in for the new defenders and Naismith and you might be alright.
Don't be a dick KIO. We're all pissed off. Nobody is denying it's looking bad, but you were foolish enough to ask what Neil could instil after five defeats in a row, when we have already been defeated five in a row this season and recovered. Also nobody is denying that Neil has made mistakes or that he's a rookie. But we came into this league with the weakest squad after having the smallest transfer budget and we still have a fair chance of survival (I'd say about evens right now, which it is). So pluck up, get behind your team and manager and cheer even if it's not going to give you the pleasure of saying "I told you so". I'm not asking you to be a happy clapper and pretend everything is fine, because it isn't. But if the players give up as easily as some fans on here, we really might as well just join the Binners in mid-Championship obscurity right now. All I'm asking you to do is cheer your team. No more.
I don't think it's the fact we've lost to Spurs tonight, for me it's the manor of the performance or lack of it to be precise which really erks me tonight. AN has had 10 days to work on the team and get the Liverpool result out of there system then they turn in a shocker ! I've got to say his team set up and substitutions we're baffling? I'm not advocating that he's lost the plot just yet but his constant revolving of players is not imo helping the side, it needs to start setting down. And can someone please tell me why Bassong is keeping Ryan Bennett out?
The thing is, for 55 mins we looked superb against Liverpool. So it was one of those annoying results where it's actually really difficult to work out how to recover from that. Just like the Stoke result where actually, until O'Neil's idiocy, we were comfortably the better team. What can you do? And now we have the misfortune of playing against the form team in the league with a nervous and unfamiliar defence. It was the worst of all worlds. Especially conceding in the first two minutes to a goal scored by none other than the form midfielder in the league. I thin team setup was dictated by the illnesses of Brady and Dorrans. The former definitely would have started and that might have meant Hoolahan on the pitch too. Subs - what can you do? When we came out the second half we looked the better team, but by that stage we were 2-0 down. You're right that the revolving of players is not helping, but part of that has been forced on him by truly dreadful form of certain players, dreadful decision making by other players, dreadfully timed illnesses and dreadful support of individuals by fans. As for Bennett - I don't know why people think he should be starting. He's been as rubbish as Bassong and Martin. Dare I say it? Yes I do actually. Martin should partner Klose next game. That would give me the most comfort, believe it or not because Martin is better than either Bennett or Bassong. Now bring on the Martin-haters to lambast me for my idiocy. Bring. It. On.
I'm still a glass half full chap - being realistic, we weren't going to get anything from tonights game - Spurs are on fire at moment. Spurs done us a favour tonight - hopefully AN can work on the frailties exposed.
Well at the end of the day if we play well and lose 1-0 or get thrashed like we did today the points are the same. Let's just beat Villa. Yes we were rubbish today but it's hardly the worst we've played all season. No need for the meltdowns. Full confidence in Alex Neil although some of the players need to take a look at themselves and ask if they really want to play PL football next year. Not having Tettey for two games is a worry though.
We outplayed Man City tonight. Our new signings were immense. I've been pessimistic lately, but after watching that, we aren't down just yet...
"Pinto lost possession 21 times. Olsson "beat" that figure, with 33." I have said all season, I don't want Olsson playing for us, not only did we not replace him, we have gone and bought another one for right back! Liverpool game showed Pinto cant defend, and Spurs game showed he can't defend or pass! That's a worry. AN comes out again "frustrated" with the defending. Yet he bought a RB with a reputation of not being a defensive RB, and only one CB. Not replacing the LB, Not getting a RB who can defend, not another CB. That "Baffles" me more than AN is Baffled by the penalty decisions. Having said all that. I knew we would collapse, I said 2 or 3-0 Spurs. I'm not surprised, I'm not going to go over the top saying it's a disgrace. We are a poor side in this league. We can't defend if our lives depended on it, and Spurs are a good team that were always gonna walk it. I wish we would have spend more time and money on defensive players rather than buying non league players who will never set foot on the pitch. The windows closed now, so nothing we can do about it. We have used both our Prem loans on a Defender and a Striker who wont start games. So we have to go with what we've got. If we lose or draw to Villa, that's pretty much that.
