Not only is their team still quite young, but the scary thing is, they will get better. They now have Sanchez who will compliment other super talents such as Pedro, Villa and of course the majestic Messi. Xavi is a great player and still has a few years in him but they will soon have Cesc who has been the best midfielder in England for a while now.

In addition to this, they are producing more super talents such as Thiago who is very young. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m14w3QNIA6w He is an absolute amazing talent and once again he has come from the Barca youth system. Well how do you compete against a team with Sanchez, Messi, Pedro, Villa, Cesc (soon to be) Thiago, Xavi, Inesta? Well the simple answer is: YOU CAN'T. In my honest opinion, it would be a shock if they did not win the Champions League next season. They are by far the best team in the world. The scary thing is, they are better than last season now. There are some people who think we ( Man Utd ) can compete against them, but the simple answer is no one can. They are too good. Best team by far in the world. Sad but true. Even if we signed Sneidjer and De Rossi they would still give us a good hiding. The friendly match against them is going to be horrible but also dazzling to watch. They play football to be admired but watching them open us up for fun in the friendly game won't feel very friendly. They will probably put 3 or 4 past us which will be horrible but they are an amazing side and that is what you expect now. Too good.

It's a shame that the best team in the world is a completely different thing to being the most entertaining team in the world.

Keeping possesion and passing to each other for about 3 minutes before making an attack is not entertainment. It was a chore to watch the CL final, as the way Barca controlled it was incredibly boring.

No it is entertaining. Playing at 100 miles an hour is not entertaining in anyway. Accurate acute passing with great skill and vision is always the best way to play. Cutting your opponent apart like a cake whilst they fall over themselves is what I call entertaining. The way they score their beautiful goals is amazing to watch. They always leave their opponents on their backside. The dazzling trickery of Messi and Pedro and Villa and now Sanchez and the amazing passing of Xavi and Inesta is a beauty to watch and they will have Cesc soon. When they play they play with great artistry and they seem to paint the goal they want to score.

Entertaining football varies between the viewer. Unlike others, I enjoyed watching mourinho's inter team play. The defending became so well drilled and focus I began to admire it. I think I even broke into laughter when they beat barca :)

I agree, it is better to watch teams do what Man Utd and Spurs do, than watch boring wasteful football like Barca and Arsenal.

This attitude will forever leave England in the dark ages. As long as this attitude stands England will never get past the quarter finals of any major tournaments. If spain and Barca have not shown England and English teams how to play football. Forget about any major trophy out side England. Barca are one of my fav teams and it is an insult to hear such stupidity. How can such a majestic team be called wasteful lol. My words if they were not "wasteful" they would score 10 goals a game <laugh>.

I agree with you to an extent. I do find Barca, and in particular the Spanish national side, a little tedious to watch at times, even if I do appreciate the skill factor in what they do. However, I was hugely impressed with Barca in the CL final. It was as good a performance as I've seen from any team against United and the scoreline really could have been greater.

Barca really don't need Cesc. Not only have they got a lot of debt already(apparently) but Thiago from La Masia would keep it a tad more traditional eh?

Fabregas will not improve Barcelona one bit. Vastly overrated player, mainly because he plays in England.

The Champions League final was a thing of beauty. To see Man U reduced to headless chickens while Xavi et al stroked the ball around them was breathtaking, and mesmerising. I was watching in a pub with a load of Man U fans and by the end they were (almost) enjoying the display as much as I was. Boring? Never. Barca play football the way it was always meant to be played.

They are good to watch when your team are not playing them. Although, when your team plays them you get very frustrated, not just because they keep the ball for ages but they get away with a lot of fouls and dives which other teams wouldn't. Saying that though, beating them is very satisfying

They are a great team to watch and one who loves (true) football loves the way Barca play. Amazing team and amazing philosophy. How can something so neat, elegant, precise be bad to watch?

Barca just beat Villarreal 5-0 in the opening game of the new season. Made the game look like a training exercise.

It's actually great credit to Mourinho and Real that they manage, for the most part, to keep stride for stride with Barcelona. Because what they're dealing with here is a team, and a method, that have advanced the game. But in some ways, Mourinho's strength is also his weakness. Because he's so focused only on winning, he's not thinking in terms of innovation.

What's needed is for some clever coach to devise a method that trumps Barca's method. Not just beat them in a one-off game, but devise a new way of playing that advances the game further than Barca have already advanced it. If the likes of Michels or Lobanovsky were alive today, they'd be on the case looking for answers. Brilliant coaches with scientific minds, serving the game as much as their clubs. But these days, the only "legacy" that managers are interested in is the trophy count. Maybe it's a by-product of the money-driven modern game, that there are fewer scientists and inventors at the business end of things.

I take back what I said about Fabregas in an earlier post. It's clear to me now that he'll fit in perfectly at Barca.
