    I thought Labour was a UK-wide party?

I'd better check but I'm pretty sure they appeared on my ballot paper at the last General Election.

Which policies has he suggested that relate to a '50s utopian dream'?

    Why wouldn't his politics appeal?

Enjoying spouting the feeble little clichés the media feed you <ok>

I like Corybn as he appears to be down to earth, interested in people's opinion and is anti-monarchy. His approahc in commons' debates has been interesting.

However, I feel that he is to far left to be seen as a viable prime minister. The UK could only really support a left of center Labour party. Corbyn's labour are not left of center and unfortunately, we're lurching to a far right electorate!

Although I agree with Dev that it's unlikely that Corbyn would ever be PM I don't believe it's because his policies are out-dated or belong to another era. We're only led to believe that is the case because the Tories and their pals in the right-wing media have convinced the British public that socialism is a dirty word and policies like abolishing Trident, caring about the environment and making the rich pay more tax are bad for Britain (they aren't).

The fact that Corbyn will never be PM is not down to his policies or political beliefs. It's down to right-wing propaganda and a dumbed down public (see last Thursday's EU referendum result for evidence.)

He's not just a "Socialist" though is he ST? Unless his views have changed somewhat he's a Marxist Socialist which is a very different animal , and with the best will in the world the population of the UK, stupid or not, will never vote for an out and out Commie. See Michael Foot for an example.

By the same token, David Cameron, Boris Johnson et al. are a bunch of posh Eton boys who treat people like **** and are only in power to help their friends get richer.

The only difference is that they have most of the press on their side and a gullible public who believes any old **** that's spoon fed to them by Murdoch, Rothermere etc.

I don't disagree, but unfortunately the British are more inclined to vote for right wingers than they are lefties. Tony Blair realised that, unlike Kinnock, Foot and latterly Corbyn.

Corbyn's MPs already knew it was the case but ploughed on more in hope than in expectation. I'm only surprised it's taken them this long to revolt.

That's what You said about Corbyn winning the leadership and Brexit.
The media shot both movements down and all the big guns from the establishment told us we had to do as we were told but it didn't work.
Tony Blair and Brown tell me not to back Corbyn or leave the E U then I know to do the opposite.

You won't even discuss the SNP because I'm English and not allowed to so there.
Stay in your ****ty little Scottish insular bubble and become another Greece without the good weather or tourism.

Then surely a left party is required as a counter balance instead of a shadow cabinet filled with Blairite Tory wannabes?

The working class in England could end up voting UKIP.

I agree we need a Left party ... however, it cannot/could not succeed if it was far left.

It may surprise you but I voted and supported Blair. It's a big thing to forget, take away the Iraq war, but Blair did sOME very good things for this country (and NI)

Its hard to just glance over a million dead in Iraq though and Blair was far from Left.

He did the odd decent thing like the minimum wage but now we have zero hour contracts and an electorate happy enough to vote Tory.

The Labour Party are tearing itself to ****e and it could be a decade before they are in any shape again if ever.

I know he wasn't left but still doesn't distract form the fact that he's the best PM we've had since Maggie.

    The electorate are fannies ..

I agree, Scottish Labour are dead and UK Labour are on their way.

I'll defo be voting Yes at IndyRef2

The Labour Party isn't far left though. This is just another example of the right wing press getting its message across.

Labour under Corbyn = far left.

    Tories under Cameron/Boris/Gideon = mainstream.

Truth is, the Tories are further to the right than they've ever been and Labour now straddle what used to be the centre ground.
