James Anderson has emerged as an injury doubt for the first Investec Test against Pakistan next month due to a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade.
The ECB confirmed he will miss Lancashire's County Championship matches against Middlesex and Nottinghamshire and that his availability will be confirmed nearer the opening Test at Lord's on July 14.
Anderson picked up the injury during the third Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month although it is understood not to be as serious as other types of stress fractures

Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance has been recalled to the England side for the first Test against Pakistan at Lord's next week.
England's leading Test wicket-taker James Anderson misses out with a shoulder injury.
Middlesex pace bowler Toby Roland-Jones earns a first call-up and will vie with Jake Ball for a place in the XI.
Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Durham all-rounder Scott Borthwick have all been overlooked.

Gary Ballance is a doubt for the 1st Test as he withdrew from Yorkshire's last match with a groin strain

With Jos Butler nursing a fractured hand, I guess Ben Stokes would be a likely replacement playing as a batsman?

    Who would you pick EH?

I think I would have gone for Stokes playing as a batsman (or Butler bearing in mind he broke his hand after the squad was announced)

England with 3 1st innings wickets standing trail Pakistan by 86 runs at the end of Day 2 of the 1st Test at Lords
    England 253 for 7 (Cook 81, Yasir 5-64) - Pakistan 339 (Misbah 114, Shafiq 73, Woakes 6-70)

England's problems against a spinner who can turn it both ways rears it's head again - advantage Pakistan

England have added Mark Wood to their Lions squad to face Sri Lanka and Pakistan's A teams, as he continues his return from ankle surgery
May pressure Finn for a place in the side near the end of the series??

Pakistan with two 2nd innings wickets standing lead England by 281 runs at the end of Day 3 at Lords

I would rather be in Pakistan's position here

Pakistan legspinner Yasir Shah has displaced England quick James Anderson from the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. Yasir is the first legspinner since Shane Warne in 2005 to be ranked No. 1, and the first Pakistan bowler since Mushtaq Ahmed in December 1996
