Maybe I'm being unbelievably harsh here, but does anyone think that Vardy looks off the pace? I understood at the beginning as he hardly had a pre-season but that blistering pace just doesn't seem to be there again yet. Am I being harsh here or a fair point?
Agreed - it's more the lack of blistering pace which worries me rather than the rest of his performance but agreed he isn't alone
You have to remember Vardy didn't have a pre season. He went to the Euro's and then had his operation and joined the squad a few days before the Community shield game Vardy has 3 goals in 5 games so I don't understand for the life of me why anyone is criticising his form
As long as we don´t go down. Now that would be embarrassing. Looks like we´ve swapped places with Chelsea again, every thing back to normal.
I'm saying he doesn't look like he has last seasons pace and whilst I understand he didn't have a pre season it's now 4 games in
Vards isn't the problem... he still looks very dangerous when he gets any service... We are giving possession away all too easily and don't have a Kante to win it straight back. Kasper was pretty awful on Saturday... isn't commanding his box and a nervousness has now crept into the defence We looked better with Leo on and Riyad more central as it gave us more creativity and more chance of keeping the ball played forward - Musa needs to be more greedy...always seems to be looking for Vardy when he has just as good a chance to get a shot away... Claudio will change things around soon .. no doubt.
Midfield need to realise that the quick ball to Vardy isn't the only option on offer. Decent teams are set up to deal with the quick counterattack now; certainly Liverpool were. I'd much rather us try to keep the ball a lot more and take time to build an attack in numbers rather than try and get Vardy in on his own all the time. Agreed, Musa does need to be greedier, and I'd like to see Gray playing wide and taking the full back on at pace. Mahrez is too slow when he plays wide right and gives the opposition time to reorganise. It will be interesting to see how Slimani plays. Is he the sort of striker who can play with his back to goal and bring others in or is he another Vardy/Musa? Surely at the price we paid we are not going to let him sit idle on the bench.
Im hoping it'll work like our own version of Ighalo/Deeney, both feeding off each other to score so defenders actually need to watch both.
