I never defended that statement, only the one in higburyal's post. But even that one is defensible. No-one really knows what makes a football team click or we wouldn't be paying managers millions. Perhaps Parlour and Keown were somehow the key ingredient. This board is about opinions - you can't show them to be bollocks unless they are factually wrong. Just post a different opinion if you don't agree with it - stop trying to prove things

Well we were never the sort of team who could grind out results to win the title regularly. But we've always won something in each of the last six full decades. No 'big' club can match that. And as for Arsenal's single UEFA trophy, well...

You're picking and choosing one part of his comment to defend presumably because you know the rest is bollocks.

'Parlour and Keown were somehow the key ingredient' in Wenger's invincible team <laugh> Do you realise how stupid that comment sounds ?

It would certainly be ludicrous without the 'somehow'

<laugh> Blimey I saw the original shut down and thought he'd just give up.

Fair play for defending his beliefs, I guess <laugh>

I´ve gone for Man City, but l´d love it if Spurs won it. As last season, it´ll be something different.

So you don't think that Parlour and Keown were the key ingredient in Wenger's invincible team then ?

As predicted we are now off on a pointless logical progression to try to disprove something. Of course I don't think that, but I can't prove it to be untrue and neither can you. Or any number of other reasons why HIAG's opinion might be correct.

The only one talking about proof here is you. I'm asking why anyone would think that Keown and Parlour would be the key ingredient in Wenger's invincible team when clearly they were not, as you have agreed. Thereby confirming that HIAG's opinion that Wenger only had success because of George Graham is utter bollocks.

Honest question: Other than being a fellow spurs fan, why do you try and defend him ? If he was a Gooner writing the same nonsense about Spurs, would you be here trying to defend it ?

I'm not surprised Wenger went a whole nine years winning sod all with a team he built himself.

It's telling the marginal success he enjoyed was shortly after he took over from graham, using his players and copying his system

Keown had 3 starts and 7 as a substitute and you are claiming him to be key ingredient!
Parlour had played a bit more part 18 starts and 9 as a substitute not a key ingredient by anybody's standard!

If you are seriously going to say that Arsenal did the invincible season because of those players being the key ingredient then I would say you are seriously deluded!

Only because everyone is entitled to an opinion. I usually post either when I have an opinion or want to correct a factual error. If my opinions are based on an incorrect understanding of the facts I value the feedback. Argue with me but don't tell me I can't hold an opinion, however unlikely!

Then its a good job I didn't say that then! The word 'somehow' is there in black and white. If I said it 'Bournemouth might somehow win the league one day' you wouldn't think I thought that it was likely to happen would you?

I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, I'm questioning why you're defending something that has clearly be shown to be bollocks, you even admitted yourself that Keown and Parlour weren't key ingredients in the invincibles team.

If HIAG was a Gooner and was making claims like 'Spurs only won the title all the way back in 1961 because Arsenal didn't try that year, had they of done so, then Spurs would only have one measly title to their name' You're telling me you would be here defending it when Spurs fans ripped it apart ?
