According to the stats Keane has less shots, less assists and less goals per game than Abel. He also gets dispossessed more often and has more bad touches per game.

So the evidence actually shows Abel has been much better.

Let's stick to the point here.

"It helps immeasurably if he isn't sat on the bench in favour of Will Keane."

It obviously doesn't. I don't know how anyone could argue it does. If it was helping, he never would have been dropped in the first place. We've been typically goal-shy all season, Hernandez has scored once, 9 games ago and we're 18th in the table. He was only dropped for a couple of games so it's not like all that damage was done when he was out of the team.

That was down to the **** set up, tactics and selection decisions made by Phelan.

Not because Hernandez is suddenly crap and unable to score.

We all know Abel was dropped because he didn't like playing in a system that didn't suit him, Keane was brought in and it turns out he's useless playing in that system too. So perhaps we need to stop blaming individuals and look at the manager and the rest of the team.

There's no denying Abel is the better striker, its not even close and we have a better chance of scoring when he's on the pitch, but its time we play to our strikers strengths rather than trying to force them to play in a system that doesn't work.

Keane has scored 4 goals in 54 games and never in the PL, its very hard to argue that he's more effective than Abel who's scored once every three games for us.

I don't really agree that our plight is down to 'wrong tactics' since we're not doing any worse than we and everyone else expected us to given the resources at our disposal, but that's a debate we've had before and not one I can be bothered to go through again right now.

Literally no one has tried to argue that Keane is a prolific goalscorer or compared him to Hernandez, so I've no idea why this is an important point to analyse.

Calling Keane useless isn't blaming individuals, of course.

To be fair, he didn't call Keane useless, he just said he was useless playing as a lone striker, which he is.

He's just generally useless. I can't believe we wasted money buying him.

Actually, that blog keeps updating, so the top story's changed, when I posted it, it said...

Hull City head coach Mike Phelan is coming to terms with the news that striker Will Keane has been sidelined for six months.

Keane limped out of City's 2-1 win over Southampton in the Tigers last game 10 days ago, hoping the damage was kept to a minimum. However, it emerged yesterday that the former Manchester United forward faces six months out after suffering cruciate ligament damage.

One striker grabbing headlines at the club is Jonathan Edwards. In the last week, Edwards has bagged seven goals for the Tigers' Development Squad. He scored five in the 7-1 win to knock North Ferriby United out of the East Riding FA Senior Cup and followed that up with two more goals in City's 3-2 league win at Crewe Alexandra yesterday.

Striker Will Keane is expected to be out of action for up to 12 months with knee ligament damage.

Keane, who picked up the injury in the first half of the 2-1 win against Southampton will undergo surgery today.

Head Coach Mike Phelan said: “Everybody at the Club wishes Will well for a full recovery ahead of what is going to be a long road back to action. To lose a player of Will’s quality and potential for such a long period of time is a big blow, but I’m sure his determination and mind set will see him through the tough journey ahead.”

Make no bones about it, Keane is **** with a capital S ,injury prone, can't score at lower levels and a general waste of wages and a squad spot.
Sayling that it's not the lad's fault that he's here and who wouldn't turn the opportunity down to join us in his circumstances.. He must have have felt that all his birthdays and Christmases had come at once.
