The camp seems very split at the minute on whether to keep him on next season. Personally i see 10th as a steady improvement. First year he took us from last day relegation battles to 13th and this year into the top half. A few good signings and some much needed pysio improvements could push us up even higher next year. So whats your opinion guys? Should Bruce stay or go? And if you think he should go, who to replace him? Owen Coyle? Martin O'Neill?
As has been said 100 times mate, he isnt going anywhere. I think 10th place has papered over some serious cracks although to be fair, a top 10 place was his remit in August. However, we have had 2 disasterous 2nd half season collapses and our final position is a disappointing one given where we were at the turn of the year. That has to be addressed and explained and to use the injuries simply isnt good enough. However, it would seem that Short and Quinn wont be looking elsewhere anytime soon for a replacement and Bruce now has a massive summer ahead of him to recruit players that will make the doubters (and I am very much in that camp now) think twice about the managers position. No more excuses or mistakes Brucie. Your 3rd season must be much, much better and balanced.
Stay and hope we don't have another crap 2nd half season ;I am sure that we have learned something from this campaign.
Says it all for me too. Brucie has equalled his 10th place with Brum with far more financial backing. Target achieved for Year 2. But it remains to be seen what he can achieve. Year 3 is where he needs to do more than merely display potential - he has to prove that he has what it takes to build a consistently successful team. Next season, 9th would not represent progress IMO.
Stay and put the pieces in place to push on. Anyone else notice that long runs of poor results seem to affect not just teams at the bottom but the likes of Spurs and Everon as well. Perhaps an injury crisis and poor results is not unique to Sunderland after all.
IMO 10th place is flattering. We only achieved this because other teams were slightly worse than we were. I'm sure Mr Short will want some gaurantees from Bruce before releasing any big cash this summer. Yes we have had an horrendous injury list, but this is why it is now a squad game.
Voted get rid but won't cry if he stays. Needs to improve the squad massively and show some sort of tactical awareness along with motivational skills ahead of the derbies if he's to stay.
I've stuck to my guns and voted him out. There are just too many question marks over his leadership and strength of character for my liking. I'm not going to say anything more than that, because it's been done to death on a number of threads over the last few weeks. If he proves me wrong, I will hold my hands up. As he doesn't appear to be going anywhere, I sincerely hope he does prove me wrong.
Can't see the point in voting on this again. I think he's gone as far as he can, but I don't think he's going anywhere, so I wish him well and hope that he really does well for us next season, and longer.
please explain why other people cannot have their own opinion........... Not really sure how this hurt the club?....................do explain……….
I think that Bruce has stumbled, stuttered and then collapsed over the finishing line at the end of the season. What do we have from this season to take into next. Loan signings such as Muntari (gone already), Mensah and Onouha to soellrt out although Mensah has probably played his last game for us (as has Zenden). Welbeck; who knows? The likes of Riveros and Angeleri are on the way out. It's difficult to predict what the team will be at the start of next season, but for me he has shown too much naivete and mistakes in the way that he's gone about the job. We've finished 10th despite the dismal run, but it papers over a shambles underneath. There is absolutely no stability going into the close season and that's a big worry.
I voted go for the following reason, he wants 9 players in the summer. He has not built a squad, he has patched players together and got lucky. A New manager would come in and bring in less players than what Brucie reckons he needs. If we'd drawn on Sunday we'd be 14th and we'd all be saying we've failed to progress. HOWEVER.....my season ticket is sorted so I'll be back and I will support the lads and Bruce if he stays and in my view he will stay. I don't hate the guy, but he ain't half made me miserable over the last 5 months.
this for me......... and ill get behind him, unless we have a capitulation second half of the season the same as the other 2 others before, if that happens then ill be baying for blood.
Bruce stays. I've had some doubts over the last couple of months but a top 10 finish and sacking Bruce is comparable to Chelsea finishing 2nd and sacking Ancelotti. Short-term thinking and futile. A bit of context and realism is needed. Some of his signings have been iffy like Angeleri and Kilgallon but give me them two anyday over Tommy 'the tank' Hauser and Tony Cullen........... If he gets quality this year we have the makings of a very good side and certainly the best since I've been following which started in the Tommy and Tony era. Keep the faith.
have to agree with cestria, need a better balanced season,i was a bruce fan but a doubter now but he has lead/stumbled us to only our 3rd top 10 finish in 50 years so progress is there
Stay. He's achieved reasonable progress but must find cause of all the injuries. Can't just be bad luck.
