Lincoln City manager Steve Tilson has confirmed he is trying to sign experienced defender Graeme Lee.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since being released from Notts County by their former manager Paul Ince in December 2010.

Tilson had attempted to bring Lee in last season, but his wage demands were rumoured to have been a stumbling block. The Imps boss is hopeful a deal could be agreed this time round.

Tilson told This is Lincolnshire: "Graeme is somebody I would love to bring to the club because he is experienced and he is a leader.

"He was excellent for Notts County when they won League Two and I almost signed him last season.

"He is the type of player I want at this club which is an outstanding professional.

"I will be speaking to his agent today, but the only issue I have is whether I can afford him because having been at Notts County he will have been on decent money.

"Everybody knows our situation, but I will try."
