My half empty glass syndrome tells me that.....If we get relegated that will mean four seasons with Derek Adams in charge and we would be exactly were we started with him....in the fourth tier of English football.....:steam:.

Not good on paper is it....if he went could Graham Coughlan be a replacement if tempted. Seemed to have pulled Rovers to safety so far.

Having watched the 10 minute iFollow highlights, a few things seem obvious to me.

Ladapo has to play, we haven't had anyone capable of scoring a goal like that for years and he had another mazy run which came to nothing.. We also need Taylor to do the target man things Ladapo can't. They both need to play.

We lost yesterday because of individual errors. Edwards in the first half and Sarcevic in the second had chances I'd have scored but failed to take them. The cross for Gillingham's first came from right on the goal line with a defender in close attendance - Ness I think. It should never have got through. Then Smith-Brown lets the guy in for an unchallenged header. Their second was another unchallenged header but this time even more inexcusably from a corner when the must be 100% ready for a bog standard delivery like that. I fail to see what the manager can do about players failing on the day and that's what they did, fail miserably.

Even if directors have direct football experience, they must let the manager manage. Mike Whelan had great success when he owned Wigan but I don't remember any suggestion that he picked the team. They need to appoint a manager and support him while they have confidence in him, never mind what the fans think. I think the budget available to Adams is more of an issue than Adams himself.

The Board do need to determine why we have recruited so poorly this year, in some cases in signing the the players we did get but didn't perform and perhaps also in not signing those we failed to get. The process has failed this year and only succeeded last year through some sort of unrepeatable miracle. Unless the failure is put down to poor performance by the recruiters, the budget has to be increased and the date at which financial sustainability is achieved has to be put back a bit.

The Grandstand has nothing to do with it. That's certainly the right thing to do for the long-term future of the club from the financial and reputational standpoints. No sane businessman is going to see spending £5m of his own money on players as being a something that anyone but an idiot would suggest. Players have a very short shelf life and if you can't sustain that level of spending in the long term, there's no point in starting down that road.

Thanks NotDistance, as you know i don't go to the games, but do watch every game on iFollow
Even though they have slipped this season, i have had my monies worth of them trying their best.
I think the Manager can only do so much on game days, no doubt he is as frustrated as everyone.
I think they will survive this season.

"I fail to see what the Manager can do about..................."

I keep reading excuses for Adams. So explain what he actually gets paid for then? Did you read his after match interview comments. "It's too late in the season to do anything about the errors or words to that effect. So what has he been doing in training for the rest of the season then. Feck all if you ask me because nothing has changed and neither has he.

A whole season of leaking defences....70 goals in 43 matches....is that not what Wotton's job is supposed to be.

It's a puzzle BC. We went through a phase when Edwards and Canavan looked a secure partnership and Smith-Brown looked promising at RB. On Friday, they couldn't stop a bus at a bus stop.

Some talk about Songo'o. Maybe we are stronger in defence with him in midfield but for me he has too enough deficiencies to make it 10% of your outfield resources wasted. On the other hand, Fox isn't strong defensively and he mustn't be put in that position. We have so few options in midfield and that's where games are won or lost.
