Under a different manager of your choice, that we would have professed further than we have with Bruce, same finances given. Obviously not mourinho ect, realistic managers.
Will never know, I would say it was Bruce,Hughs, dont think we could have tempted Moyes, maybe O'Neil and may have get Joll, cant think who else.
Honestly no, i dont think we would have done. Keane spent 80 million without getting a lot back, fair enough he had to get us out of the Chamionship and keep us in the Prem, but its still a lot of money. Bruce has spent the best part 87 million but he has also clawed back 71 million from selling. - 16 million over 3 years isnt bad going if you ask me. MON would have wanted a lot of cash, and probably wouldnt have got that much back SA may have done well, but sooner or later we would have hated his brand of football (as much as we like to take the piss out of Newcstle for sacking him when they did) Moyes would have done quite well, but chances of getting him in the first place would have been slim. But even all those 3 may have had the injuries Bruce had, but we will never know that.
Hey. Regardless of what you think, Keane got us up and kept us up. To be fair to him, Bruce has wheeler-dealed and spent wisely. But, y'know. I want better than Bruce... Up here to be kicked. x
I have nothing against Keane, i was just using him as a comparison to what Bruce has done since he took over.
BigJohn. Would like someone wiyh European experience. Someone to move us to that because that is where they are from. Jol would have ben good. HOWEVER - lets give Brucie boy the chance. Wish we'd had a certain Bobby Robson. x
He'd have sorted his hair out and ended up with a couple of beastly tattoos. Football wise I've nee fecking idea.
Gagging for more like. The problem being though he might find our bottomless pit of funds to easy to work with & not challenging enough. Besides, look at the wonderful job heâs already doing
stoke spent 60 million recouped 13 million Fulham spent 93 million recouped 37 million Everton spent 112 million recouped 57 million the above are not in the last 2 years, but they have had to build teams to survive or compete, which is what Bruce has had to do. And i am not even going to look at the top 6.
Without Keane there would be no Ellis Short or Steve Bruce. I wish people would refrain from constantly downing RK's achievements. He had absolutely **** all to work with when he came, apart from a bunch of demoralised utter failures; we were bottom of a very poor pile; we were a sinking ship that he turned around inside a few weeks and months into championship winners. He also kept us there and a fair chunk of the money recouped by Bruce was from selling some of RK's signings. I will always be grateful for the profile Keane brought to the SOL and the swift rescue operation from oblivion he produced. He left in a hail of tantrums and tears (it was always going to be thus) but he did so leaving a fantastic platform of Ellis Short in charge and a nucleus of a team that SB could mould and improve on. It should be remembered that Keane's involvement triggered the current set up to take over as if we had sunk without a trace after that last awful humiliating relegation, we may well never have resurfaced again this side of 2020, as we were as low as ever at the time.
Agreed Cest. Don't forget that Keane made a clean break with us when he could have turned awkward and held on for some compensation payment. I reckon history will be kind to RK and rightly so.
Saying as though i am the only one that mentioned Keane in this thread, you must be talking about me? I vehemently backed Keane when (almost) everyone on BBC 606 was saying he should be sacked, but looking back he did go a bit daft with transfer fees and especially wages, and now we cant move on some of the tripe we have, even though we have shifted a lot.
[QUOTEa nucleus of a team that SB could mould and improve on.][/QUOTE] Should that not read "move on". Steve Bruce was quoted some time ago that he would not be happy until all the players were his signings.
I'd love to see that quote - I have read just about every quote attributed to SAFC and Bruce and think that this is complete heresay and conjecture. Loosely attributed to the fact that it'd be cutting nose off to spite face (not that there's much nose left). How come he hasn't sold Bardsley if this is the case?? (and is still not trying to) I don't believe he has said this but I do believe he has said he wants a team he can call his own - i.e. HIS choice of players - not all his signings (2 totally different things)
