A well deserved draw and a great 2nd half display. That is positive 1, in that last season too often heads went down 2nd half this time we played better.

Positive 2, Wes Brown, I have to confess that I wondered about signing him, age injury prone etc. yesterday he proved me wrong.

Positive 3, Larsson dead ball kicks and great goal. We have a midfielder who can score and take free and corner kicks hurrah!

Positive 4, Catts and Colbeck good strong midfield centre.

Positive 5, Ji looked as if he could become useful

Negative 1, Rico is not a LB

Negative 2, Sess and Gyan do not look that potent.

Pointers for the future, would be get McBardo back at LB and that a third experienced striker has to be brought in, just for a year, so that the young uns' Ji & Wickham can gain experience. It could be Sess's best place is on the wing.

More good than bad and in a way nothing we did not know before LB/LW and another striker urgently needed (i.e. we have not replaced Bent yet) and that the signings SB has made have strengthened the side.

    Have I got this right?

Colback is the future of this club.

He deservedly started, and he looked like he'd never broken his stride from last season, he's 3 or 4 times the player Jordan was, he & Catts just seemed to work perfecty, akin to when Catts & Cana played together on the rare occasion they were both available.

I'd agree with all points, Ji really excites me, he's not going to struggle, his control and movement are excellent, he'll have a few games to adjust for sure, but he instantly looked a Premier League footballer.

Gyan & Sess had a tough time, but Liverpool did a great job of getting 6 back everytime we attacked through the middle, 12 teams in the league at least will not be so well organized, they'll be ok.

We have Whickham yet as well, remember <ok>

A left back, for me, is more important than a left winger based on yesterday, as Seb did well, but both and we're flying.

Sunderpitt - Have you got things right? Mostly I reckon yes, the differences I have in your piece are around Catts and Colback and Gyan and Sess performance. Not convinced by a C & C mid, reckon Meyler/Gardner would be better and that they could provide some/additional ammo for a front two - in addition to Larsson, as that supply seemed less than bountiful!! Gyan and Sess worked hard with what scraps they were given!!

Priority for me is a PROVEN Striker as I've been talking about on another thread. Great start though, bring on the dregs of Tyneside next week.

Not a lot to disagree with there mate, think a lot of us have been on about a proven scorer for ages
Agree Rico is not a LB, not sure what he is, has looked the best as behind the front man but Sess has that role now
Cattermole does not impress me at all, no pass, no shot and will get so much time off over a season, can,t get away with tackles like others can, yesterday proved that I think and I think Colback was on the end of most of them
Thought Wes Brown looked really good and if we can keep him fit he'll turn into a Steve Bold like figure with us
