No brainer in my opinion, Frimpong is the far better footballer and will improve massively given games.

Song has reached the level he can reach .. being the non technical player he is. I'm far happier seeing Frimpong in the team than Song who many of you will know is not my favourite player.

Use one then when red-carded - swap to the other ?

Song is currently the better player.

Right up until his red card Frimpong looked really good. As I've only seen him play about 120 minutes of football all in I can't form a good judgement on him other than to say 'encouraging'. With the right management he should become really talented.

    How ?

Song is slow, has poor passing ability, gets pulled out of position, gives away silly free kicks and gets sent off.
Frimpong doesn't track back as well, is the better passer, has more pace, gives away silly free kicks and gets sent off.

But Frimpong's 2 yellow cards means a 1 game suspension as opposed to Songs trial by video ban of 3 games, so Frimpong is also smarter than Song too !

Alex Song has vision and can read the game very well so he gets my pick. Frimpong reminds me of a more rash, energetic and more muscular version of Song.

Frimpong may have more pace but Song can pick out a far better pass than he can and he rarely get pulled out of position.
Alex Song is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league you know.

    Songs not slow at all.

He's hardworking puts in more tackles than ANY other midfielder in the league and can play adequately as a centreback.

Song is better suited to a 4-3-3- playing the 'Makelele' role. Over the last year Wenger has tended to use him next to someone else in 4-2-3-1 which does'nt suit him so well.

As a old fashioned DM Song is one of the best around. The stats back that up also. He's one of the best tacklers in the league and has a very high passing accuracy too.

I think we tend to overrate Song due to us not having any decent DM's in the team. I mean what is the competition? Denilson? Eastmond? It doesn't inspire confidence does it. However, Frimpong definately has something, he has power, pace and confidence. He erringly looks like Essien the way he powerfully moves around the pitch (obviously not as good). I am a big fan of Essien and he is one player that would have made us complete. However he is still a bit raw but with time, he will be bcome an excellent DM for us. Having both Song and Frimpong in our ranks will give us that depth we so importantly need.

I really like both, but for u 2 say that song is not a technical player is laughable, seriously we really missed song in some mtaches last season when he was injured. I do however really like frimpong but he has only started one match. I do think that he is a tremendous talent and i wouldn't be surprised if he is playing on a regular basis for both arsenal and england by the end of the season, both him and wilshere work exceptionally well together as they have played together since they were 9 years old.

You can definately see the talent there, he just needs time to bed in eg. play in all the cup games and some prem ones when Song isn't around.

As for representing England, i think he has shown a desire to play for Ghana. However i do hope he goes for England instead :p

I will be dreading when the ACON comes around............

Song has no pace at all, takes all day to turn, I have no idea how you say he has pace. His passing is basic, he cannot make offensive passes. Denilson was also the best passer in the league a couple of seasons ago so lets take stats with a pinch of salt shall we.

When Frimpong has the ball you can immediately see his head up looking for a pass, not taking 2 or 3 touches before looking for a pass. Frimpong's speed of thought is far quicker. He looks to play the ball forward immediately, I like that.

You claim Song is one of the best in the league ... really ?? He wouldn't get into any other top team in any European league. Think about it. I say Song is not technical because he isn't, his passing and his close control are that of someone who has to think about what he is doing, it is NOT instinctive. Technical players do things effortlessly, Song does not.

Yes Song can double as a CB which is good, but you can't be serious when you say he is one of the best DMs in the league, a more basic player you couldn't find. Song wouldn't get in the Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U, Man City or Tottenham midfield and I say that with complete confidence.

Actually i agree with you on Song has no pace, he is definately our slowest player by far. Frimpong is quicker and more powerful by the looks of things. He was out-muscling all the Liverpool players and correct me if im wrong but did he also out-muscle Carrol?

They're different types of players. Frimpong is far more defensive than song. Song will go forward, leaving the defence exposed, you saw on saturday, aside from one occasion, frimpong stayed back, and acted as a sweeper in a way.

I agree with everything you say. Song is really a very poor player. He is a good squad player. But to be an automatic first choice = why we havent won anything since he mans that crucial dfm role. First on wenger shopping list should be a genuine world class defensive midfeilder. Song is awful

Also song at cb always has me with my heart in my mouth. He is possibly the clummiest player I have ever seen and I always think he is likely to give away a penalty

he always seems to do well at CB if he's moved their halfway through the game (sometime int he CL last season)

but if he starts there he's dreadful.
