Hard won result, Jose called the team Animals, but in good way, very complimentary in his SS interview just after the match, excellent goalkeeping performance even more so as a debut in the Premier League.
Anyone care to explain how this tackle wasn’t a red card!!! Three big decisions to make, all involving Smalling, and ref missed penalty and sending off but at least got the dive. He probably didnt think wed make much out of it that’s why.
The penalty was a penalty. Clear and I think everyone agrees. The head shot on atsu was probably a yellow but if it was shelvey it would have been a red. The dive was a booking. And the ref gave it. So out of the three one was bad and two where right. We did the basics right today and that’s what won us the game. Manu didn’t really get out of second gear till we scored and then our new keeper did the rest.
I'd love to see Southampton go down. Loathe their fans, ****bags almost to a man While far bigger clubs yo-yo between the divisions, (Leeds, US, Makems, West Ham etc) they stay up with comfort Same with Stoke and WBA. Be nice if those three went down
ref was spot on for his timing in the second half I had 4 minutes of added on my watch however in the first half he played over to allow Manure to get the corner over despite no one from their team wanting to take it and as soon as we cleared the ball he blew for half time Cheating bastard
Best performance of the season today! Individually Ritchie, Gayle, Lejuene all had their best games so far this year and as a team/tactically we were spot on as well. Rode our luck a bit defensively but never seen us make so many goal like blocks and clearances. Why haven't we been pressing high like this all season? Gave Man U so many problems with the high press. Need to back this up now in the next game. HTL
Actually surprised Southampton are in the bottom three. Where did they come from. It’s amazing. The premiership this season is not going to be defined with who wins the title but more who goes down. It’s much more exciting down here anyways. Anyone can go. Where as at the top it’s predictable.
Anyone from the bottom 8 or 9 maybe up to Everton can go down. Doubt Everton will, although it would be nice to see if Everton fans would be as loyal as they keep lecturing others if they did. They've NEVER been tested.
Was right below me and defo not a red card. Went for the ball, but reckless not knowing where Atsu was. Otherwise we got nowt off him today. Gayle was a pen and I’d send off Smalling for that dive. Ref and Lino’s had a poor day. Great result and a real battling performance - that sort of stuff keeps you up. Dummett, Lascelles, Lejeune, Shelvey, Diame, Ritchie, Kenedy all put proper shifts in. That kind of passion and organisation has been missing at home all season. The fans responded. The players should take note how much they can lift the support just with effort. Rafa has them much better organised today. We had a plan and there was real tenacity in us.
You know if shelvey can knuckle down and actually just play to his potential like he did today. Keep himself out of trouble and keep us up he might find himself on a plane to the World Cup.
Would you not give Gayle and Dubravka a mention? Almost to a man they put a proper shift in. Only disappointments relative to everyone else would be Yedlin and Perez. Is there a right to buy with Dubravka?
