    Hi all,

Bit off topid but I'm looking for some advice.

In a few weeks I'm going to go to Berlin and Rome.
If anybody could reccommend some neat places to see and some places to avoid that would be great.

I'm going with a few of my friends so some lively places would be much appreciated.

    No WUMS please

    Regards

    Mr Nice

Iv been to Berlin and Rome.

Rome was with family, so it was just sight seeing etc...

Berlin though was with friends <ok>

Try looking for a cocktail bar called Solar in Berlin. Cant remember the name of the street or anything, but its defo worth looking it up. Very classy joint.

    Cheers Pete.

Staying in a place called the Generator hostel. Gonna be pretty lively. Sort of north east to the centre of Berlin.

    Regards

    My Dear Mr Nice,

I wouldn't bother with either - unless busines calls and you can't get out of the trip. No "neat places" and certainly no "lively places" to see.

Berlin is perpetually foggy and drenched in drizzle while Rome is hideously expensive, smelly and crawling with Americans who can "do" an entire country in half a day.

Niether Berlin nor Rome has anything to recommend themselves to a person of obviously discerning tastes............

    Kind regards,

    Mid Upper Thingy.

Nice one! I stayed in the Generator for 3 nights! Very clean and roomy. Its right next to the Velodrom, where I saw Rammstein live in concert.

Its right next to the trams that take you into the centre, and it is good banter too. Watch out for the Generators bar though. Feking expensive!

There is loads of good points about both cities. Dont be put off. I was in Berlin at winter and it was -15 degrees c most nights, but I still had a great time.

Hmm, we only drank in it once. Think it was £5 for one jager bomb... £4 for Jack D and Coke.

Dont know about Cocktails. But they might have been cashing in on the fact that Rammstein where playing next door, so they knew they would get loads of business.

Em, it seems a bit run down. But its not. I think in berlin they have very strict laws on demolishing bulidings, so there are lots of empty buildings near by. But its not a poor area or anything like that.

We went into the centre of berlin most days, so im not sure abot things to do near the Gen.

    Mr Nice....

Don't believe Peterbaey - he is luring you into a false sense of security with visions of fiery German rock bands and a good time had by all.

    Prefer The Scorpions myself...but hey....

There is nothing to recommend either of these cities. Unless you are happy to empty your wallet very day..... and put up with bloody Americams.

    Regards,

    Midupper,

PS: Pease don't refer to our private messages in public. You know what I think of you but there is no need to, well you know.................

Miduppgunner - I like your gusto and I believe you have a great sense of humour. Mixed with my creativity and petes intelligence we could be a dangerous outfit - like a snood made of stanley blades.

    Whatcha think?

    Mr Nice.......

The nicest thing anyone has said in a long time.

    What a trio.

Let's take on the world with all of us wearing killer-zombie snoods.

    Kind regards,

    Midupper

If you want to go out for drinks in Rome I suggest staying well away from the city center. 7euros for a bottle of beer in some places!!

I went sight seeing so probably can't help with with any hip and happening places to visit but obviously the Colleseum and Forums are worth checking out if you want a bit of history <ok>
