A shocking game of football but a win is a win. Saves the season to a certain extent. Backs to the wall stuff for most of the game but great credit due to all for dogged defence and will to win. Back 3 immense...particularly Rudiger. We now move joint 3rd with Spurs and ahead of Liverpool and Villa on total F.A. cup wins. What's not to love as a Blue's fan....unless of course you're Stan d man who is probably drowning his sorrows with no words of bollocks to spout !!!
Have to admit I wasn’t feeling optimistic about the outcome but full credit to the team for digging in and prevailing; ironic comments from Jose at the end, how many times has he used the bus tactic as a means towards an end most notably when we beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield a few years ago...people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Great summary for the end of a weird season. Most players stepped up close to very good form and we saw what is good and what is not so good very clearly. Back 3 were pretty damned good, Rudiger a stand out for me, Dave solid as a rock, Cahill full of effort, but still not quite convincing. Midfield was overun again. Kante did everything, Fabregas tried but lack of pace and energy is apparent, Bakayoko very much a work in progress. Alonso excellent, Moses just below what I'd hope for, as was Giroud. Hazard on his game and dangerous. Courtois did very well. Great defensive effort but needed to be because we don't have power, directness or dynamism in midfield nor up front. Unbalanced team of good to very good individuals but lacking cohesion. Same as all year, and needs intelligent recruiting and patience to sort out. Starting Today. Great win and effort from everyone, excellent way to end the season.
Antonio Conte - tactically - out Mourinhoed Mourinho. A fantastic win that made the near £300 quid I paid for the 2 category 1 tickets and postage seem like a real bargain. I’ve never seen my wife look so thrilled as when the final whistle blew for us to get our 8th FA Cup trophy. A great day out and many thanks to all at Chelsea FC. Also the superb DJ in the Chelsea fan zone prior to the game - top notch entertainment with Chelsea songs, beer supping and the celery throwing. Life gets no better than yesterday.
If only we had applied all those attributes all season we probably would have finished 2nd. I've said all season long Ruddier is a top, top player unlike Bakayoko that the hapless yank Stan is keen on. In the end we are Chelsea and we are the best team in London.
Lots of big IFs . IF RA changes his whole attitude ( and if he gets a new UK visa), and gets in Football advisors. IF Conte stops his strops and dummy spitting, shuts up, and gets the players on side. IF the Club clears out the mediocrity, which is too large a part of the 1st Team squad. IF we start to regularly play some of our best youth. IF we bring in 3 absolutely top class players , one striker, one midfielder one CD IF Conte, RA and the Players collectively agree to work together and the new signings can play to our chosen formation. Imagine a season that's been planned properly, manned properly and managed properly. Otherwise, see you next year, same time, same place.
