The other thread degenerated into a cess pit. So it is now closed Please put your comments about how wonderful life will be under new manager Steve and how many new trophy cabinents we now need here please
Hopefully, our manager & team can start an upward trend of building, progression & fruition in achieving the goals that get us back to the PL. I know l wanted an immediate return but in truth, as long as l / we, can see a gradual improvement in the team over a sustained period of time, we should get to where we want to be. It may take a year or two or more but again, as long as we can see some positive movements, that should be all we need to get that 'feel good' factor back.
Agree. Tactically he will be so much better. Let's hope the players also put the same effort in as they did for Hollow. If they do we will have a good season. Already looking forward to return home. My seat better still be there!
Think the youngsters will thrive on his coaching well I hope so, I shouldn’t think he will tinker to much with team week to week & will keep an unchanged team when we win games! Not sure what formation he will start with but I don’t think he’s a 352 man, looking forward to seeing how we progress & hope fans give him time to settle in.
Agree Jeff, we all know he is a good coach and hopefully the fans will trust him and give him time to get a good side together.
Holloway was given many chances. I hope the fans give McLaren the same opportunity to find his feet with the squad. We need to take a few steps up, this is an opportunity to do that. It won’t be smooth, and I doubt that the play-offs are an opportunity some time soon. So let’s build. I want to see our players coached, improving, and becoming better players - and so become a better team than last season. We do have some talent. We do need more to challenge. But let’s build. Let’s build and move forward this next season. Then we’ll know what we can look forward to in 12 months time.
McLaren is a good coach and doesn't have any baggage (ie the dodgy dealer rep of Arry or after dinner speaking commitments of JFH). He will have my full support in a week or two but I am still pretty angry at the sacking of Ollie so am not quite there yet.
Can anyone recall when the last time was when we had a manager who was generating a bit of hope / excitement and was given a whole pre-season to get the ball rolling|? I hope this will encourage some who've not felt able to attend HQ due to Holloway's football. We need to get Loftus Road rocking. We do have an advantage with our smaller, tight stadium but only if it is nearly full.
I admit that I am also looking forward to developments. I expect a couple of signings, primarily at center-back and hopefully with the Hill/Derry hardened-pro experience. Plus, a new forward would be useful. But most of all, I look forward to seeing how McLaren shapes the team and what type of style of play develops. I also expects our young players to develop. So hopefully, exciting times at Loftus Road. (note:comment transfered from the old thread)
I don't know what to expect He seems to have a terrible track record in England Just like us My expectations have been lowered in the last few years so I wouldn't be surprised if we both finally click and become a top half premiership team in three years GOOD LUCK STEVE
Some jobs he seems to have taken they wanted instance success, promotion or play offs the min. So perhaps a season of bringing on the youngsters and better football could suit all. And a push for promotion next season.
RTID, I must admit l have a good feeling about this appointment, whereas the past couple of managers had left me feeling non-plus. Time will tell but it is a good feeling to start off a new season with renewed hope.
The one thing that we all be sure of is that the style of football will be better. With all due respects to Hollow, his football knowledge was limited.
Sadly, (sadly, because it's true), you're right, Ellers. McLaren is (or certainly was) a better tactician than what we've been used to recently. He did some good stuff behind the scenes last time he was here for a pre-season. Here's hoping that his superior tactics and coaching makes a difference, but that we don't lose the "We are Rs" mentality that Holloway brought us. We like a manager that clearly bleeds blue and white, don't we?
