Living in a fairly split footballing town, as I do in the green and lush God fearing but undoubtedly Wearside hamlet of Chester le Street, I have been out this evening amongst my flock to gather the thoughts and opinions of both sides of the great divide.

One major overwhelming feeling of unity has been prevalent throughout the night. Both sets of fans think their respective teams will be both okay and equally unspectacular this season. Honours will be pretty even come May 13th and that neither club will bothering the top 8 positions this season either.

Middle of the road boring ****e is another way of describing it and you know what, that sums it up perfectly for me. 2 great clubs with slightly better than average teams. 13th or 14th will be our clubs positions if no changes are made before Wednesdays transfer closure.

I cant disagree at them moment with that prediction. Can you?

No mate i cant disagree with that both clubs need 2-3 players before wednesday night.

All we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

If were going off early season form and transfer activity then I'm backing arsenal for the drop.

After the international break is when we get into the season properly

What I will say is Newcastle currently have the better squad. Certainly up front and in midfield and I think colocini is better than any defender we have (tin hat on) even better than oshea and brown.

It's still too early to say if I'm being honest but, I've seen nothing to assure me that we won't struggle this season and the barcodes are not too far away from us either. It's going to be a long hard season for both clubs and one where the fans expectations will be way higher than the clubs.

Both teams are capable of hovering around a top 10 finish I think. There are worse teams out there and some very winnable games for both teams which should rack up the points.

The players we add before the transfer window shuts could make all the difference though.

We both have a handful of very good players, and a load of average ones.

We'll be in similar positions to last season, but we may find ourselves lower if we don't sort some goals out.

Neither side will concede many, so that's a good staring point.

Aye it is, but it's a crippler if we lose a lot 1-0 though.
