I saw him retire from international football today. He came off at the 33rd minute to a fine ovation, and US announcers indicated that he might play one more year of club football.

He can still out jump a young Carter-Vickers.

33 minutes, that's how much he has in the tank per game.

I don't get the feeling Ross will be all that keen on keeping him on if the young and athletic players we've been linked with is accurate reporting. There are many, many better defenders we could have in his place.

There’s many things as a club we need to move on from. This is another....

Imagine that O'Shea had never played for us, but was now available on a free transfer having been relegated with Burton Albion. Can you imagine a single Sunderland supporter who would be clamouring for the new manager to go out and make him our first signing? Hell no!

Can't even say thanks for the memories, same with Catts, both probably canny lads in their own way, its just that they were never good enough from day one. Niether could lead by example although both believed they could, and amazingly a sucession managers apeared to agree with them and they paid the price, the first one to suss it was immediately undermined by the dressing room to the long term detriment of the club which continued to pay them both far and above what they were worth. As with Rodwell I cant wait to see the back of them.
