Forest were interested, wonder if the Lichaj deal is anything to do with it. Trying to get more compensation from them to cheapen the incoming deal?
Not seen it yet Sterling but how much we bidding for lichaj and is he any good? Just a right back or??
Apparently the asking price is £400,000 which we've baulked at. Presumably Ehab wants to pay in instalments of £30 a month for the foreseeable. He's certainly an experienced Championship player, solid and a big bugger. Can play anywhere across the back. Not blessed with pace but a decent cross. Like a slower Elmo.
Nothing to back it up in truth, more just educated guess/gut feeling. Certainly not giving the kid grief here, but I'd be surprised if there was such an alleged interest in him.
There was certainly interest from Nottingham a week or two ago - due to a quirk of birth, I have generations of Forest supporting family; I have no idea if the interest is still there though.
Thrown into the deep end in a position he hadn’t played recently (He’d played more as a midfielder) he has done alright.
Max will end up at Forest as Dawson was bigging him up to them about 6 weeks ago while he was across there sorting out his own future.
The key thing is whether it moves beyond interest/enquiry - a club prepared to meet the player's and the likely tribunal's valuation. For a free, then he's worth a jab as a prospect project. But for the risk of paying 500/600k (or more) as a fee? Would a tribunal take Clark's England schoolboy/youth career into consideration?
According to the Nottingham Post, they’re definitely interested in him, I think the main reason he hasn’t gone anywhere else yet, is that he really doesn’t want to leave.
I heard today that Max actually wants to stay, maybe he’s leaving his decision until as late as possible in the hope an agreement can be reached.
He can’t want that much Christ. What’s he on now 2k? What will he want 5-6k we will be offering 4K? There’s so many ways you can do a deal, with increases etc etc . Get out of our club you bellends. #allamsout
It’s not just about ability for me. It’s seeing a local lad on the fringes of the first team. Whether he’s a regular starter or not. As a fan of the club I’d love to see more home grown products in the team. He may not be a Windass or Barmby but being involved in grass roots football it is something local young players can aspire too, more so than the latest import from out of town that’s just here for the contract. Though in our case they will only be here as they couldn’t muster any other offers from other clubs.
Actually for some players I think we're an attractive proposition, any signing is all but guaranteed to start every game they're fit.
The point isn't whether we needed to keep specific players. The point is that you can't keep rebuilding a full squad year in year out and rely on loans years in year out. Brentford/Millwall/Preston seem to be the popular thing at the minute, and people seem to think they survived on journeyman and free transfers. No they had an excellent scouting network (Brentford and Preston inparticular) and identified their targets and built a squad slowly but surely. Every year they purchase for 4/5 players to compliment what they have their already. They dont release 7, sell 5 and rely on 5 loanees every year. They have built a squad, with a lot of thought. A million miles away from us.
