Tommy Wright last night hit out at Sunderland boss Jack Ross for making an illegal approach for his goalkeeping coach Paul Mathers behind the St Johnstone manager’s back. Wright, who is also facing the prospect of losing his assistant manager Callum Davidson to Stoke City, was furious when he found out talks had begun between the English League One club and Mathers without his consent. “I’m very disappointed but I suppose nothing should surprise you in football these days,” said Wright, who revealed that Mathers had recently agreed a new deal at McDiarmid Park following interest from Dundee United. “If it was me, the first thing I would do if I wanted to speak to another manager’s member of staff would be to pick up the phone. “Jack Ross is a new manager in the game and maybe the new breed do things differently. “The fact that he hasn’t phoned me or answered my calls tells you more about him. “It’s underhand and disrespectful – to me and to the club. “It’s out of order.” Wright added: “I would have thought a club like Sunderland would have done their business properly. “I’ve got some sympathy with Paul and can understand that he would want to speak to them but I should be the first person to know. “I’m still hoping that Paul will stay. “He agreed a new contract 10 days ago after interest from Dundee United, who acted with total professionalism.”
Shut up you slag. If the guy wants to stay he'll stay. Think he'll want to leave judging from that moan.
FFS he’ll only be in 2 bob a week - it’s not like he is a player. Still I suppose if it was me I’d be peed off anarl. Bart
Hi @bonnybobbypark great user name I remember my older brother having high hopes of a glittering career for Bobby sadly he got injured and had to finish playing quite young iirc?
If this was the other way round, I think a few of us would be doing our nuts. I'd like to think we do things the correct way at this club.
Always at least 2 sides to a story so would be good to hear what Ross has to say. Bit off if we are poaching.
History has a funny way of repeating itself. This may come back only now to hit you where it hurts most.
like the 6 in a row pounding we gave the Skunks, 7 if you count the friendly, is that the type you mean....
