You know it's true. Wenger tried it with cesc Hleb rosicky arshavin. It didn't work you got out muscled because our refs let footballers be physical

Hleb, Rosicky and Arshavin weren't physical players though. Torriera definitely is and so is Banega to and extent. Also Ramsey is no push over. So that three would have far more physical presence than the former. It would lack a bit of height though. But we have Elneny for that and it's a possibility that we might bring in Steven N'zonzi.

Banega soft as **** slow as a donkey too .He's very cesc esque. Dunno about torreirra.

Ramsay is physical but he's normally hovering round your CF waiting for knock downs and goals

We're also being linked to Golovin and Nzonzi. I wouldn't mind either

I have to say I think signing Lacazette and Aubamayang was a mistake.

We now have a limited transfer budget to 'fix' the whole squad with.

If we could have simply kept Giroud and signed Aubamayang. We would an extra £50-60 million to strengthen our defence/midfield.

Looks like we may well be signing Ever Banega.

It's a weird one - he's very similar to Torreira. If anything he's a little more attacking.

Some publications are claiming its either/or and some are claiming we are signing both.

They are both scrappy, technical, small South American midfielders, both start from a deep position and like to get forward. I can understand how both players are well suited to a high press in midfield.

I'm just not sure how... Torreira, Banega, Xhaka and Ramsey will work. Is Ramsey leaving? (still hasn't signed a new deal).. will Xhaka get dropped leaving an incredibly small midfield?

I like both these players just not sure how we would accommodate them both.

Does anyone see Xhaka role changing - can he be the deep AM alongside a DM

Emery might well change it but we haven't played with a proper DM since Gilberto left

Well with the current squad I could see him going back to his old role. The Pirlo/Alonso quarterback type position.
It's the only thing that makes sense IF Emery sets up the team the way he normally does.

    -----------------Xhaka-------------------
    --Torreira-------------------Banega--

Xhaka is the only one of our midfielders large enough to drop into the CB position - which is something Emery tends to require when his sides are defending.
This would work because you would get alot of closing down and intercepting from Banaga and Torreira. Xhaka's role would be to fire balls forward.

Not sure where Ramsey would fit in here though.

If we get all of our business done then we will have signed a GK, RB, CBx2, DM and CM

Would be happy with that <ok>

Same here but it also depends on who Emery choses to retain or does that lie with the other 2? No radical changes first off, more organisation and some defensive positions will make a big difference.

I am hoping that Steve Bould was kept for a reason and that he will now coach the defenders to do their job properly.

My main concern with this is actually Torreira.

I mean he looks like a talented little player but..

Denilson, Diarra, Flamini, Song, etc, there are numerical examples of players who were signed, they just didn’t end up being the next 'Patrick Vieira/Gilberto'. At the time Arsene Wenger was accused of gambling on unknown talent rather then going the extra mile for a marquee name. The irony being that Gooners are now celebrating the capture of an unknown quantity at a time when we need a marquee name.

I feel like this is the one position we really need an experienced proven signing.

Lichsteiner will be great cover - and good player to have in the dressing room.
Leno - May not be Top class yet but he has the ability to be so and should learn alot from Cech.
Sokratis - Captain at Dortmund so he's obviously a character. I like the fact he's a very physical aggressive CB.
Caglar S - Could be a top talent. Happy with that if he's as good as people seem to think he is.
Banega - Not a flashy midfielder but tidy on the ball, experienced, hardworking and can play from deep or higher up.

I think we may see the Portuguese Gelson Martins come on a free also. If the deal doesn't get tied in legal procedures. He looks quality.
(Would be worth a punt going for Carvalho as well - he would be a bargain on a free. IMO)

Flamini was a decent player for us, diarra would have been if he’d chosen to stay and Song was actually pretty good despite the criticism. The only one from that group who wasn’t any good was Denilson.

Agreed that Torreiria isn’t a player in the mould of Vieira or Gilberto, but he’s a tough tackler and a mobile player so I think he can do a good job.

I think he and Xhaka can sit in there with Ramsey ahead of them and that would be a decent midfield. If we bring in Banega then it gives us even more options. We also then have Elneny who I think is vastly underrated at Arsenal. He’s a very solid squad player who does a lot of work in the middle of the pitch.

Would like to see us get a winger in too, if we can nab Martins on a free then that would be a good scoop and our squad will be in good shape (on paper) going into the new season

I think Mustsfi will go if we get Soyuncu in. Wilshere and Cazorla have gone. Mertesacker has retired and we’ve let a few other fringe players go.

Think that might be it for the outgoing players

I think we're still in the market for a "proper" DM. Nzonzi and a few others linked. I feel Nzonzi will give us the physicality we need. I heard a rumor that Mislintat was not happy with Mustafi so it's a possibility he might be sold to make way for Soyuncu (who has a great reputation). Maybe not the big names we need, but they are all solid signings.
