i know that the club have brought a few decent players in this season, but now, like most seasons i don't think we will be signing any player before tomorrow...be glad to eat my words!

hess always tells the fans what they want to hear and ends up with some sort of excuss. sorry to say it but our club is one that echo's...we'll try, or we'll go with what we've got, we''ll bide out time!!!

times up hess we need a striker...before we drop more needless points and kedwell hits rock bottom!

get this striker to score goals, so it breeds good performances & confidence through out the club...NOW HESS !

I think the team and Hessy have got a huge weight on their shoulders this weekend, although I'm still confident that we can pick ourselves up from the Rotherham defeat and regain our strength to overcome Shrewsbury.

The problem is a defeat in my opinion will open the team up to critics, which have been silent certainly on not606 so far this season.

We bought well in pre-season so there should be no reason why we cannot maintain our promotion place push, that final signing and we all know who we would've liked, may not come but we cannot go finding excuses, it is still the same team that got us in this current league position, no second best for the Gills this time round, we need to pull together and make our mark on this league properly during the next two home games.

Although I would not like to be in Hessy's position at the moment - two wins and he and the team will be praised as promotion contenders, anything else and there will for sure be even further questions asked if that striker signing is still missing.

To sum it up imo we have spent a lot of money, so anything other than promotion is not an option.

I have to echo brb's thought's on this matter.

I too want to see a new striker in by the weekend but if we don't, that's hessy's choice.

I don't think you can call into hessy commitment to trying to find a new striker but I feel there is too much pressure on him to find someone brilliant.

In all honesty any player who is still a free agent is a big risk. Either attitude or injury has made them a dangerous gamble.

Also we don't have much cash to splash in the 28 or so hours left so a proven goalscorer is out of the question.

However hess has had all transfer window to sort out our strike problems. Yes Kedwell and Birchill are top strikers and I'm sure they will both become Gills legends but to gamble on those two being fit the whole season is a bit naive.

We need another striker. Will we get one by tomorrow night?

My Heart say's yes, with Jo Kaffour my ideal signing.

My Head say's no, with Hess waiting till the loan market to bring in a young kid.

Well , he has got a couple of youngsters Miller and Payne perhaps they will both start !! No good having players on the books who are never ever going to play

I would love too see Ashley Miller play. The lad is obviously talented so must be worth a go. If he's bad, he is still young and will learn from the experience. If good, Hess is a tactical genius and we have another much needed strike option.

what sort of comment is that born again...the fact is those players are on our books and they aren't playing, other than miller who is still very young, the others are not good enough (s payne, oli)...fact!

as for the striker matter, one is more apparent now due to kedwell and lee having virus's...which could well keep them out this weekend?

the issue of a striker is even more of a concern now...so can hess afford the luxury of not bringing someone in before the weekend?????

for me personally...it needs to happen...now!!!

Payne and Oli dont score goals, rooney does, give him a go up front.I personaly dont think we have the money to sign a new striker as he will want at least a 2 year contract and hopefully birch will be fit towards end of this season.A loanee would be fine, just remember cody was a loanee and he seemed quite popular .

I am merely pointing out that we do have options for the short term . If Miller is ever going to get a chance this season ...now is the time !! Personally I would give Rooney a start up front, but he has got options. Don't think he will sign anyone tommorrow though I would love to be wrong. Cody looks like he is going to Posh,we can't afford Benson maybe the Northampton striker is a possibility. Birchall wont be out forever and we have managed to get to 4th without him with two home games coming up. I reckon Hess sees the problem as more as an inconvenience than a crisis and I would agree

I think with the transfer deadline nearly up on us and with Kedwell and Lee going down with a virus, the situation is that unless they recover by Saturday, that Rooney and Oli are options for starting that need to be looked at.

Hessy and Scally now have a dilemma, do they ride the storm against Shrewsbury without making any deadline signings or quickly get in before the deadline.

Maybe the question is how valuable are these 3 points, this coming Saturday?

If you are in any doubt about that statement, just take a look back on the final day of the last 2 seasons!

Whilst the need for a new striker is evident, rash signings aren't the answer. Remember even with another striker on Saturday we needed 4 goals (away from home) for the win, it was poor defending that cost us the match not lack of strikers.
Hess/Scally have signed some good players this summer and I have confidence that they will get the right man in at the right time.
