Nice tribute to the iconic Bob Stokoe outside the ground

Magnificent stadium - an absolute anomaly in this dogsh1t league.

Taylor & Pratley both start despite Bowyer saying they were not fit.

    And only 5 subs named.

    Deary me...

But this is a promotion winning squad.

    Team.

    Phillips
    Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Page
    Marshall, Pratley, Aribo, Lapslie,
    Taylor, Grant

Subs Maynard- Brewer, Sarr, Maloney, Ajose, Hackett- Fairchild.

We don't even have enough players to fill the bench. It says it all.

Remember last season when KR only named 5 subs as a protest?

It seems he just highlighted another thing to be cut. Afterall, why should we be paying for an extra two subs when we can only have 11 players on the pitch?!

What are the odds on Pratley or Taylor picking up an injury today? Madness.

    Aribo bossing the game.

    Lapslie having a blinder.

Taylor looks a much better striker than Magennis.

    So far, so good.

One defender and no midfielders on the bench.

Pearce carried off after a bad tackle. It doesn't look good for him or us.

We just about deserved that after getting off to a very sluggish start

Jumped in a cab to Newcastle & caught the 3pm.

A real kick in the teeth at the end, seen it so many times over the years but it still grates.
Sunderland were poor in truth, but when you spend 85 mins defending a lead with 8-9 players (Marshall & Grant poor) and effectively no subs, you get what you deserve.

    Positive points -

A very bright first half an hour.
    Lapslie provides plenty of energy
Aribo was the best player on the pitch
Taylor looks a lot better player than Magennis
Great support up there today ...around 500, but sang throughout

    Negatives-

Phillips has got to do better on their first - goal - Amos would have saved it
We tired & went deep very quickly.
Absolutely no bench options as predicted

A long old season now beckons unless something drastic changes quick. We have a good starting 8, a couple of bits of flotsam & jetsam ...and then a bunch of kids.

    Sad times !

No complaints really. We are still finding our feet ourselves with a brand new squad and we've still got Wyke and McGeough to come in yet, our two stand-out players. I thought first half we were awful and it was all Charlton, another goal would have probably killed the game off at that point. You have shown that your team has a lot of fight left them in. Second half, I thought we completely dominated and it did have that feeling the goals were coming. From our point of view, I think we'll get better and better now as this squad get used to each other and a few players come into the team. Not many teams will take points from the SOL so that's out the way for you now. You need to pull a couple of signings from somewhere as this running out of steam late on with no changes to be made could be your achilles heel time and time again.

Safe journey back, Royston, I genuinely wish you guys well for the season.

Cheers - thoughts on your team they the tears of bitterness <laugh>...a lot of diagonal high balls to your front line which is not the tallest...and your centre halves (4&5) are not the quickest on the turn. You will get better as you say, and this League is krap. Cracking stadium & enjoyed the atmosphere <applause>

Yeah hopefully with Baldwin coming in that'll shore up the defence. We knew that was a problem but we didn't want to let you guys in on it!

Good start with this. Wish me luck!
