Inconceivable!

 

What you fail to understand is that we ALL accept a democratic decision.
Two things you cannot grasp:
1 Democracy involves elections that do not bind the country - they are subject to change as the electorate chooses.
2 The 2016 referendum failed to define brexit. Either politicians must now define it - perhaps the Norway model - or the public in a referendum asking them to clarify what they actually want.

 

The referendum was never designed to define Brexit. It was clear in or out decision similar to the previous one in 1975. Those that cannot accept the result are just trying to complicate and add caveats to thwart the decision. I expect them to fail again as they have at every stage so far.

 

...and that is democracy... or just one version of it....

 

Thankfully it was the one overwhelmingly chosen by parliament to decide on Brexit.

 

Reminds me a bit of when the Irish voted against the Lisbon treaty.

There's nothing to discuss here. The referendum took place, we know the outcome, lets get on with it.

You can disagree all you like, a fact is a fact. The referendum was designed to decide on the UK's membership of the EU, all done and dusted, we are leaving.

 

Not with remainers controlling the negotiations, we haven't. That's not the leave voters fault. We voted to leave the undemocratic cesspit that is the European Union, if that means walking away with a no deal, so be it. That will hurt the EU just as badly as it will hurt ourselves.

We voted out, we have to go with what the majority have asked for. Otherwise you're opening up a huge can of worms. For example, if Labour get in at the next election, does that give us Conservative voters the right to demand a re-run as nobody realised just how much of a scum bag Jeremy Corbyn is? You might disagree with that, but I disagree with trying to run the in/out referendum again.

As a side note, 27 out of 30 polls are showing that the leave vote would actually increase if we had to do it all over again.

 

You misunderstood....... I disagree with the mode of democracy chosen... the first past the post referendum... it is potentially dangerous.... we need as more measure approach for such important decisions

 

I was going through a box that contains some of my memorabilia, and came across my ration book from 1950. Rationing worked well for the UK as it ensured that everyone had the same access to basic food, and allowed reduced quantities to be managed by the Government system. Recently we had Raab telling us that the government will manage food supplies, but he was shown to be totally out of touch when it was found out that his answer was for supermarkets to stockpile, and the supermarkets had to tell him that they are another industry that relies on just in time deliveries. So while the government talks about managing food, medicines, fuel, etc, they do not really mean it. They are relying on others to do the work for them, and this means it will be price that defines what you can buy, not a fair system for all.

 

Well the current Govt even went to the polls again after Brexit for a clear mandate to rule and they didn't get one... .and now look at the mess we are in....I suggest that the mess is more about the personnel and personalities than the fact they are (Tory) remainers in part....

 

Be careful CBD, only anti Brexit and anti UK Tory government views are usually tolerated on this forum. Expect the insults to start flowing if you disagree with the clique.

 

Brexit supporting parties gained 85% of the vote. Anti Brexit Parties, Lib Dems and Greens sunk without trace.

Both the Tories and the LP canvassed on honouring the referendum result. The Lib Dems main message was stopping Brexit which gained no support whatsoever from the public. Surely even you can understand that.
