    Best Driver: hamilton
    Worst Driver: perez
Luckiest Driver: hmmm...kmag for.luckiest fastest lap ever
Unluckiest Driver: ocon. only non finisher
Best Rookie/New Driver: who cares tjere are no rookies now.

Best Team: hmmm.. do any deserve it? Mercedes made right calls on hamilton speeding up.
    Surprise Team: mclaren
    Worst Team: Ferrari
    Best Overtake: vettel on verstappen

Most Surprising Result: frankly there's no way vettel v verstappen in corner 1 could be expected to produce no impact of car on car.
Least Surprising Result: Ferrari panicking and doing something stupid.
Funniest moment: there's nothing funny about that ****... not even crofts rain claims.
Excuse of the week: sky putting on Davidson to back up croft as brundle spanked his arse for being a clown about rain tjat wasn't happening

Special Mention: alonso for getting 7th
Best post in race thread: any or mine ;)

Race Rating: 2/10 max and that's for Hamilton's control of safety car and pit stop. and for the quality lap. it was a desperately.dull race

    That's a shame, Jasper.

For what it's worth, I think the whole weekend and race was very interesting from the strategic point of view; and watching it play out on Sunday was fascinating, to me at least. For instance, there was quite a difference in tyre selection – especially between the top teams – which I believe was a contributing factor in the finishing order. And seeing the reality of how different teams and drivers handled the increasing pressure helps get a better perspective on some subtle realities of F1.

If you do see it, I'd be very interested in your assessments.
It's a good opportunity feedback – and it would be good if more members took part!

    Cheers.

    Best Driver: Hamilton
Worst Driver: Perez for idiocy, Vandoorne for lack of pace.
Luckiest Driver: Probably Alonso, not sure how i feel about 11th being such an advantage.
Unluckiest Driver: Ocon for being within a mile of his insane teammate.
Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc as in most races.

Best Team: Have Mercedes now ended that "Ferrari have the best car" idea?, or do we put this one down to Lewis>Seb?
Surprise Team: Ferrari. Not a pleasant surprise for them.
Worst Team: Williams were the slowest they've been yet. They're lucky Caterham and Manor didn't survive to beat them here.
    Best Overtake: Hulk on Sirotkin

    Most Surprising Result: Alonso 7th
Least Surprising Result: Vandoorne not 7th
Funniest moment: Err... Maybe the TV directors for apparantly showing us sprinklers for the plants to try and keep people interested (according to DC)
Excuse of the week: None i can think of. Most of the underperformers held their hands up to it, surprisingly.

Special Mention: Strong showing from Verstappen.
Race Rating: 1/10 - Nothing really of interest other than a failed undercut. Even Vettel being on tyres that shouldn't have lasted until the end meant nothing. Drivers not pushing very hard, no real strategy variation other than 7th to 10th on the grid getting the short straw, not a lot of overtaking or tension. Definition of a bad race.

Best Driver: Hamilton, reminded me of his Aus pole lap - Stunning!
Worst Driver: Perez - unacceptable on so many levels.
Luckiest Driver: Vettel - didn’t have the pace, poor strategy call by Ferrari and managed to salvage a podium on the Ultras
Unluckiest Driver: Ocon, out of the race and likely to be out of a race seat?
Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc although he was a bit scrappy over the weekend.

Best Team: Mercedes - please can we end the “Ferrari have the best car" idea? There is nothing between these cars, it’s driver, circuit and tyre dependent.
    Surprise Team:
Worst Team: Williams were the slowest, Ferrari back to imploding.
Best Overtake: Vettel on Max although we all had our eyes closed!

    Most Surprising Result: Alonso 7th
Least Surprising Result: Street circuits highlighting the worst in driver, team and F1
    Funniest moment:
    Excuse of the week:

Special Mention: Strong showing from Verstappen, all things considered his Qualy lap was probably the best.
Race Rating: 3.5/10 - Nothing really of interest, lead drivers dominant, contenders following home, typical brain fade further down the field.

Best Driver: Hamilton. A scintillating lap to grab Pole position; a better than average (for him) getaway off the line; and a very well calculated two hour drive to victory; a feat he made look easier than it was.
Worst driver: Perez. And not the first time he shown us his darker side. Such misbehaviour should have been more severely punished.
Luckiest Driver: Perez. - Survived his own road rage and then dealt with too leniently.
Unluckiest Driver: Ocon. Although adventurous, his car placement in attempting to pass his dangerously hot-headed, overly-ruthless (ahem) 'team mate' was justified.
Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc / Sirotkin.

Best Team: Mercedes. A hard-working team made to look even better by the best driver on today's grid, bar none.:bandit:
Now I feel compelled to say this, so apologies to Smithers! :emoticon-0167-beer:. Bottas is very good but I believe if he and his cloned double were driving both Mercedes, they'd be a clear second best to Ferrari. Putting it another way, I believe if Hamilton was in the Ferrari, he'd be leading the Drivers' Championship by an even bigger margin, regardless of team mate. Essentially, Hamilton is making up the difference.
Surprise Team: Mercedes and Ferrari: the latter out-classed by the former at an event they expected to dominate.
Worst Team: Williams. Woeful. Tough luck eh, Frank?

Best Overtake: I'll go with Vettel v Verstappen. An unstoppable and ballsy move. No slight upon his victim either. Verstappen behaved like a proper (more level-headed) driver this time. Perez, take note.
[Edit: I'm also going to mention Sirotkin here. Damaged and with debris caught in his front wing right from the start, he was forced to pit which sent him to the back of the field but provided opportunity to leap-frog others when their tyres expired. Then with track position on those quicker cars, he doggedly defended against them. This obviously infuriated TemPerez who deliberately Schumachered him, inflicting far more damage. Yet even after this – and now with a very wounded car – he fought like an old-fashioned hero. Admirable.]

Most Surprising Result: Ferrari should have done better.
Least Surprising Result: Hamilton winning from Pole.
Funniest moment: Apparently one of the Sky commentators (I do not listen to him) had viewers laughing. Not with him but at him. Crofter is an unfunny, lucky to be involved in F1, self-important berk.
Excuse of the week: Bottas – but I mean this in the nicest, most positive sense: he always has the grace not to look for one.

Special Mention: Verstappen. I'll take this opportunity to credit him for a great performance, driving around difficulties over the whole weekend – as well as an outstanding qualifying lap. Ocon for his upbeat demeanour regardless of circumstance, both in and out of the seat.

Race Rating: 5.88/10. Not the best but I was intrigued by the difference in tyre choices. I think Vettel might have faired better if he'd not missed out on a good chunk of second practice.

Apologies if it comes across as bitter. I like the team very much. There was a time Williams was perhaps the purest of the 'garagista' and the ever patient workforce consists of many great individuals to this day.

    But I confess little sympathy for Sir Frank. He's always played down the importance of drivers relative to his car (perhaps more so than any other team over the years, including Ferrari); and who deliberately fed the Schumacher phenomenon, politically, in another cunning attempt to show the world how good 'his' car was. It's not dishonourable as such;
it just feels like it sometimes.
–And yes, that does irk me.

Apologies for not doing this in a timely fashion, I have had a v busy week, so much so I fell asleep in the dentist chair this afternoon, to the amusement of those present.

Best Driver: Lewis for the obvious, tad concerned he was so out of breath, the other drivers who no doubt spent a similar amount of energy did not show so much, figure it was as much emotion as physical, in which case puts him right up there.
Worst Driver: Perez, you have all said it.
Luckiest Driver: Perez for having a drive next year and not being black flagged for the disgraceful behaviour he showed. Should have points on his license, not the first time he has shown that behaviour.
    Unluckiest Driver: Ocon
    Best Rookie/New Driver: Le Clerc

    Best Team: Mercedes
Surprise Team: No team actually surprised me
    Worst Team: Ferrari
Best Overtake: Vettel on Verstappen (was it the only one of significance)?

Most Surprising Result: Daniel. Is he suffering from lack of support at Red Bull in view of his impending departure? He is, we know, excluded from some of the detail.
    Least Surprising Result: Brendan Hartley
    Funniest moment:
Excuse of the week: ''I didn't see him'' Guess who!!

Special Mention: Perez for being a 'knob', a word I haven't used in a while, school playground I think. .

That has to be the best definition of tiredness EVER. 'I was so tired I fell asleep in the dentist chair!' :)
I am at my most awake in the dentist chair!!!!

Well I just feel sorry for those who pay to watch this on sky...

Best Driver: Hamilton. He is red hot at the moment.
Worst Driver: Bottas. He is almost drowning.
    Luckiest Driver: verstappen
    Unluckiest Driver: ocon
    Best Rookie/New Driver: LeClerc

Best Team: Renault had a decent race.
Surprise Team: mclaren.. Well Alonso. If he had a team mate on the level of Sainz or Grosjean then mclaren would be fighting for 4th.
    Worst Team: Force India.
    Best Overtake: Vettel on verstappen

Most Surprising Result: verstappen not taking the chance to take the lead and being a gentleman
Least Surprising Result:force india magnetic side pods
    Funniest moment:
Excuse of the week: Ferrari strategy

It was a first for me, that is for certain! If I described the moment in detail any possible credibility I might have had would be gone. She assured me I wasn't the first. I am supposed to be sailing a yacht across the Channel tomorrow, casting off early evening, don't think i will sleep through that given the forecast. Fingers crossed the worse will be over, but will be lumpy.

    Very funny. <laugh>
P.S. I've edited my awards to mention Sirotkin. Driving the Williams around at the tail end of things means he's all too easily overlooked.
