High praise from Adkins. I personally don’t care how great he is in training because in my opinion it’s not showing on match days. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nigel-adkins-leaps-defence-hull-2096021
I'm an Adkins fanboy as we know, but I'm not mad keen on that. I think Henriksen's a wasteman. Runs around with his chest out like he's the ****ing boss but when it comes to it and there's a 50-50 he's not going for it. If it's in the air he won't even go for a 70-30 in his favour.
Thing is he might be a great influence, a great trainer, a good role model and a nice guy. But he isn't performing well on the pitch that's all that matters surely? I would love us to still have Meyler and Larsson I reckon we would be comfortable mid table with those two.
That's what you want to believe PLT. In recent weeks Henriksen has won contested headers, executed crash tackles, all the things you say he doesn't do. You need to WATCH him, not assume stuff about him.
At first I thought it was a decent idea since MH has been captain at his previous clubs, he's big, tall and Scandinavian with a deep voice and all that.. but now I'm afraid that Adkins is stuck with him. He can't very well go back on his pick so he is forced into praising his captain. Unless Adkins thinks Henriksen is doing alright then in that case they both need to have a sit down!
There’s nowt wrong with a Manager talking up his Captain when the chips are down & the knives are out.
I’m absolutely sure you actually are Markus Henriksen. You are literally the only person that lavishes such high praise on him. I really wanted him to be good, he came to us with a great pedigree and reputation. We just haven’t seen anything like the player we were expecting. Even when he got into the team surrounded by better players. He’s a huge disappointment for me. Nowhere near the level of disappointment provided by Kevin Stewart - but still nowhere near good enough. He’s certainly not captain material either.
Again, WATCH HIM. He is constantly communicating, shouting, cajoling, pointing. Even when his own form is weak (which it sometimes is). I make a point of watching Henriksen, and loudly noting when he does good things. I recommend it, you will see a different player, I promise you.
I don't know why you'd think I want to believe anything negative about a City player, or why you'd assume that I formed such an opinion without watching him.
The midfield is the route of all our problems and I’d say Batty has had a better season, this says a lot.
'He is constantly communicating, shouting, cajoling, pointing.' Just like Junior Lewis, and just like Junior Lewis he is very good at being marked out of the game when we have the ball yet can find lots of space when we don't.
I can't find stats for 'touches' but in terms of passing, which I guess is the nearest thing, he seems to be highest in terms of quantity (apart from the defenders) marginally ahead of Batty, but Batty is more accurate. In terms of 'key' passes and assists, the players who have played further forward (Evandro, Irvine, Kane, Bowen, Campbell) have more. A lot of this may be down to the positions and roles they play though which is always why it's hard to compare stats.
Well I have only seen one game this season and he was directly at fault for their goal. We had a player called Harper who was very good at shouting and pointing to everyone else. He was ****e anarl
He's done okay at best, but for long periods in games just seems to let the game pass him by. He clearly is getting frustrated by something given the stupid yellow cards he's picked up over recent weeks. I've yet to see him have a run of games were he really applies himself and dominates the oppositions midfield. In his defence (joking aside), he's played more as part of a midfield 4, when the opposition have 5 in midfield, so he's getting dragged around and as a sresult we've looked all at sea in midfield a number of times. All that said, four matches this season have been the absolute worst I have ever seen over many years, that suggests in part he's not getting a response to whatever he's saying or doing to change anything.
He took a while to settle with us, and as a consequence certain fans have formed their Opinion on him, and facts will not budge them. I’ve seen the same as Al, he has a relatively quiet style of captaincy but he’s certainly there doing the role. I’ve no idea on the team dynamics though to know whether it’s what the team needs. It certainly seems the fans want a visually more “fighting” kind of leader. The only realistic alternative is Lijac, and he’s only just got his foot in the door. Overall, there are bigger things to worry about at the club at the moment than messing about with the captain (or manager) when we have competent people in place. Let’s support them as much as we can and focus our ire on the off-pitch shenanigans.
I think he's arse and will have a good game 10% of the time. But we haven't anyone else and he's better than Stewart.
