I don’t know what he’s done since retirement, other than piss and moan to the media about things. He must have risen through the coaching ranks and excelled in every role?

Is that a quote from Tim Wilby ( ex- acting chairman, ex Hull Fc and council caretaker, and still 'scouting' in Australia) after he'd conned David Lloyd into buying City just before he revealed our new manager ? It does sound very familiar.

He's set himself up for a major fall, he should have kept his head down, his mouth shut and let his performance as a manager speak for itself self.....

I've got a funny feeling he will take them down, get sacked and we will hear no end about how he wasn't supported, had his hands tied, wasn't given a fair chance, that he's better then all this etc.

Macclesfield - possibly the best fast food I've ever encountered at a football ground was served at the stall behind the away stand. Could Sol Campbell replace Steve Wilson in the fans' affections there? Surely not.

I seem to remember Mark Hateley make similar statements when coming here?

He's been after a managerial job for years.

Now he's got one let's see what he can do. Some players will look up to him, some might think he's a big headed ****.

Takes all sorts to be a good 'man' manager.

The fact he's made a big issue of his lack of opportunity in the past has put him in the media spotlight.

    Will be interesting.

Absolutely. His managerial career is likely to end as soon as it started. Comes across as a millennial who feels he’s entitled to be a manager without actually working for the opportunity. Going to be a total car crash I reckon.

Can't remember the exact words, but he said recently in an interview that it's simple to run a team, it would take him 2/3 games to figure out what he needed to do with a team and that he knew football inside out.

He's just setting himself up to fail and look stupid imo

    Yep.

It is of course possible that the opposing manager will know football pretty well too. That might cause a problem for him if he was relying on that alone.

Used to loathe Blunter Warnock but his methods in the lower leagues are battle- proved. Also comes across as a bloke who would do the job for nowt. An example of a so-so player whose shrewdness and passion has helped him climb the managerial ladder.

    Campbell on the other hand.....

Sol has history for being mentally weak. He also seems an introvert with no documented history of organising others or showing leadership.

Looking at the stats it looks like Macclesfield don’t score many and have a problem stopping the opposition. Don’t know if the position is filled yet but he’s going to need a good No2 with experience in the lower leagues.

What’s Peter Taylor doing these days?
