I'm sat here at home surrounded by hundreds of presents under the tree, more beer and wine than House of Townend and more grub than a Hairy Bikers Christmas special. Every home game I walk past this fella and his dog sat under a tree come rain, shine and sub-zero temperatures. I really feel I should do something for him but then have an internal argument with myself that he could just be a wino or a druggie and maybe I should just carry on walking. I feel guilty every time I pass him and even pretend to not notice him. What type of a person does that make me? I want to give him something and leave him just a couple of tins of dog food and maybe a couple of quid. Anyway I'm going to give him and his dog something on New Years Day as I go to the Bolton game. If he's taking the piss then more fool me. If he's genuine then I've helped him out. Has anyone on here seen him and given him anything or am I just a gullible idiot who should ignore him and carry on with my own business?
Chazz will be fine. Seriously, tried talking to him? Not Chazz. The fella. Might be as you suspect, might not be.
That's my problem, I don't want to get involved I just want to help him a little but he could have a BMW parked on Walton Street and be an arsehole just taking the piss or he could be genuinely on the bones of his arse with only his dog and an old duvet to his name.
You’re putting too much thought into it. Just do something. Buy s Sausage Sarnie & a Coffee, give him it, move on, job done.
I see him most home games and more often than not he's still there after the match, I've noticed he leaves his hat close to the pavement and sits a few yards back under the tree, I've often contemplated snatching his hat and doing a runner but there's usually only a few coppers in there,, I think he must empty it on a regular basis as I see him in HSBC on Holderness Road every Monday pouring coins into the change machine... £600 plus usually.
The homeless situation in the country is a national shame. People seem forget that homeless doesn't just mean on the street. There's people on family/mates sofas, families stuck in hotels and in shelters. I've notice in the HDM comments on Facebook people blaming the poor for there poverty. Which awful.
Yea, the bastards imposing their lifestyle choices on those who can't speak for themselves. An animal, there's some irony right there.
Like others I've wondered if he's legit or a con. I get round it by giving my winter fuel allowance to the Sally Army, who help the homeless, and Trussell Trust, who run foodbanks. It's not much, but it makes me feel better. And it definitely goes to deserving cases. Happy Christmas to all.
Almost a Rags to Riches story by this Hull lad- from 30 shillings a night in Hull working mens clubs to earning hundreds of thousands of pounds. We buy Hull City season seats for 2 Hull relations and I have asked them to drop a donation into this guy's hat if they encounter him on their way to the ground.
