we had kids who could cover as well as others if need be ie fabinho and milner. i guess klopp didn't see so many injuries all happening at once in defence.
we already had Gomez , Matip & Lovren out and we rotate our MF 3 constantly so dangerous to rely on them to cover defence when we know it is likely to be required Just think for the (in footballing terms) miniscule cost savings it was a dangerous move .
but klopps point was why waste money on a player you are only going to need for a few games. i get your point and was a risk, but i do get klopps. save the money for players you really want and need.
If we were in spurs position. (no real chance at league but easily on for 4th) I'd have agreed with cylne decision. but top of league and desperate to win it after 29 years? I'd have told clyne he's moving in may. or 29th january if squad situation suits. He'd have played fa cup too. I said so the day he moved. So what if he gets 3 games i the period. they could be the games that get us the 2 points or 3 points needed for title... aka this game coming. In the end: in 11 days time TAA might or might not be ready (I think kloppp was lying last friday to put doubt in hodgsons head) Gomez might be back Fabinho might be fine Lovren will be back too. windy should be back Milner just misses one game then is back. In that 11 days and certainly after Leicester game our only absentee may well be Ox again. We just need a solution for RB for one game and it could come from TAA.
Fine lines. If TAA's injury had been worse, we'd be cursing right now. If he gets injured again, we might yet be. If he's back for Leicester and stays injury free then we'll all bow to JK's immense wiseness and never question his actions again.....at least for a week or two!
for 20 mins more like I've said before we need 2 players for every position and got told we were not city and why compare to city etc etc... well here we are; Our squad today GK: Alisson, Mingolet RB: TAA, GOmez, (milner fill in) LB: Robertson. Moreno (if we want to lose a game) RCB: Gomez, matip LCB VVD Lovren No 6: Fabinho, Hnedrson (windy fill in) CMs: Kieta, windy, milner, lallana, (ox out this season) LW: Mane (fiminro fills in) RW: salah, shaqiri St: Firmino, Sturrdige Origi So: a) We are still trusting to luck about the place. b) we are still weakening other areas of pitch and moving a player ti cover others. IF nobody left this summer we would still need to fill gaps now howeve.r LB will be gone (thank ****) A cb could well go (matip) 2 strikers will go. and rb should have no cover. So we need a full back (1 min) Look at CB position again 2 forwards 100% Midfield no 8 poistion to be looked at. Theres always work to do but when you list it out.. letting clyne go who could cover both left and right back slots simply makes no sense.
Thats why i found it annoying all the moaning about fa cup. We dont have squad to compete on all levels. Debatable if we have it for title and cl why i wont be gutted if we went out of cl.
Basically we are ****. decent first 11 bar ox is injured and keita has flopped this year. terrible reserves. city should be ashamed being 4 points down on us tbh. Crisis at city then
Klopp: I told Rafa he'd made the most important challenge of his life! Jürgen Klopp has explained how his reaction to Rafael Camacho’s crucial late challenge in Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace on Saturday may have left the defender a little confused. With the Reds down to 10 men following James Milner’s dismissal for a second yellow card, the 18-year-old was sent on for his Premier League debut to help the side hold onto their advantage at Anfield. And with the scoreline poised at 4-3 in Liverpool’s favour and just seconds of stoppage-time to play, Camacho produced a vital tackle on the ever-dangerous Wilfried Zaha inside the area to thwart the late danger. Jürgen Klopp: These players are proper warriors “I told him immediately after the game that he'd already made the most important challenge of his life,” Klopp said. “I'm not sure he really got it – he looked at me like 'What is he talking about?' – but it was really massive. “He's good in defensive challenges. He's an offensive player in his mindset and everything but look at our full-backs and where are they most of the time? You need these offensive skills. “On the other side there will be moments when you are alone on the pitch against a world-class player and they are looking to nutmeg you or whatever. “It is the learning process Robbo went through. He was a fantastic left-winger but played full-back and now he is a full-back. That's really cool. “I was really happy in that moment but I have seen similar situations from him [Camacho] before.” https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/335036-jurgen-klopp-rafael-camacho-crystal-palace
Any other year, with the exception of last year and City, and the title would be home and hosed. What we are doing this year, given the squad depth, disparity in investment over years and City's absolute dominance last year is way beyond my expectations. When you look at what JK inherited, it is nothing short of miraculous that we are were we are today.
We'd have to know for sure what's said behind closed doors to understand the decision, and (I'm assuming that) none of us are in that privileged position. Klopp has made it obvious that he won't entertain anyone who is not fully committed so perhaps there was some issue. However, Clyne certainly looked up for it when he was given a chance so who knows? It does seem a strange one, but generally I support JK's decisions.
When some were moaning about going out of the cup I said that I'd be prepared to sacrifice even the CL to win the PL this season. We simply don't have the squad we need yet to compete on all levels. Winning either the Prem or the CL would help enormously in attracting players, but after so long without it the league has to be priority for me.
City are a disgrace. The most expensive squad in history can't close a 4 point gap with 17 games to go? Pep needs sacking if he doesn't win the PL or CL this season.
