I can take Strolls dad out of the equation, because I know nothing of him other than he is a very successfull and incredibly wealthy business man . I cannot take Max dad out of the equation . He is a thug . Sadly I may be seeing a bit of Like Father Like Son . So on that basis I would chose Lance easily . Not a cop out , but it is my honest opinion .
Interesting theory. Based on observations of Ferrari running seemingly excessive cooling on their car for Australia.
Never mind Ferrari, they are their own worst enemies, what a step forward for Honda, podium at first race with new team, just what will Bahrain bring us !!!
The progress Honda have made with Torro Rosso and Red Bull really brings more red faces to McLaren, who are no better off with their Renault engines despite making out that all their issues were with Honda. Bearing in mind how far back the Renault teams were in general, it does show just how good that Red Bull has been to be competitive over the last few years (god it hurts to say that!). Adrian Newey should be paid more than the drivers, without him they'd be stuck in the midfield. You can see why Mercedes or Ferrari did not wish to give them engines when they wanted out of their Renault contract a few years ago.
What surprises me is why others are consistently unable to match the aero designs Adrian comes up with. McLaren messed up, was it Eric or Ron or both? We did all despair with Honda at the time. Mclaren maybe would have benefited from a second team. They will never be the go to team anymore, their heyday has gone. Midfield at best. I was thinking, Ross Brawn and Lewis, it was an easy conversation for Ross to have with Lewis, a works team is the only place to be, think Lewis got the message fairly quick. I am sure Honda downed some sake after Sunday.
That makes Red Bull not wanting a budget cap even more understandable. I think Liberty/FIA were talking about drivers salary not being included in budget but rest of manpower was included. I wonder how much other teams 'Adrians' are paid in comparison?
Yes, Lewis is a tad more savvy than people give him credit for, leaving McLaren was a big move for him. Its true that, we must leave emotion out of any decision making process. Just my opinion, counts for nothing.
There's an interview with Lewis somewhere talking about how he made the decision. He agonised over it because whilst he knew Merc was the place to be in 2014, he felt he was giving up a title winning 2013 McLaren. So joining Mercedes was savvy, but leaving Mclaren at the perfect time was luck. I don't think anyone saw their collapse coming. Bet he got a bit of a chuckle when Australia rolled around.
Ross was better placed than many to explain the dynamic to Lewis of how a works team functions/works.
The complexity of budget caps. So, if Adrian has shares, they could pay him with dividends, even give him his own class of share to achieve this rather than replicate the dividend for all shareholders. Would dividends fall within a budget cap?
I guess a budget cap should only limit what is spent on a car. Drivers and personnel could make more money from bonuses in the commercial side. As long as the cars have the same budget spent on them then that should make things fair
