Even more fascinating this weekend after the free practice.

Them Red Bull are rapid. 6 horse race can’t wait for qualifying.

Wasn’t half having to work that car mind Lewis, but that’s what he does, that’s why he’s got 5 titles.

My eldest daughter and her hubby are well into F1, and they've spent a fortune going 'aal ower the knot end' following it, from Silverstone to Scooby Dooby in the U.A.E. . . . . they love it :emoticon-0105-wink:

Looks like Ferrari have handling issues. I refuse to look too much into practice sessions but it could well be starting to take shape. Ferrari can’t afford a slow start. They’ll be obliterated during the latter part where Lewis always thrives. He’s the anti Tottenham!

Very true mate, Mercedes always develop better then Ferrari come back.

Looked like Merc had some issues as well mind you see the work Lewis was putting in on the wheel on the fastest lap? He grafted for that.

I’m gonna have a bet on Verstappen, I think there’s more on that car looks like they’ve got it put together really well.

Nothing wrong with hitting a little ball with a long stick around a muddy field...it is similar to supporting a certain football team for over 50 years... ie more bad shots/results but you keep going in the hope that it will get better

It's the same old story with the Mercedes garage, sandbagging during testing and practice then turn all the buttons to full for qualifying and race day. I've recorded the practice and gonna watch it soon.
I'm actually excited by all these moves and this season looks like it will be tougher for the big boys, i still thing Mercedes will come out on top but the likes of Renault and Red Bull look like they might push them harder this season.
If anyone can upset the big boys it's definitely Ricciardo mate, sheer class and as you said, a nice bloke as well.

It's got similarities with Hamilton when he went to Mercedes, they knew they had the makings of a great car and put their money on Hamilton to help develop it and look how that turned out. I think Renault are thinking along the same lines mate with Ricciardo, could be the start of something special for them.

Just watching P2 and Hamilton is on fire, but i think Ferrari are hiding a bit of pace like.

Without a doubt Ferrari have held back, but I wonder how much as Seb is definitely frustrated there.

I agree with every word around Ricciardo, even from his perspective he’s desperate to win a world title, he wouldn’t have went, they’ve massively upped their budget as well, those cars looked solid in P2 and they’ve 2 proper talented drivers.

Hamilton always looks flawless in that car but did you see the work through the double corners? He was grafting he’s just so ****ing natural. That said, could be an easy fix, couple millimetres on a wing.

So Mercedes qualified 1 2,, so are Ferrari slower than bwe thought or Mercedes faster?

Saw this on a BBC article
To put this into perspective, at 100mph, a modern F1 car will produce roughly 750kg of downforce. Since this is more than the minimum weight limit of the car, this year 743kg, it means it could in theory drive upside down on the ceiling.

Thought that was a nice bit of trivia

Mercedes are faster mate. Track record went. Even Bottas was massively faster than Vettel.

    Sneaky bastards.

Like Roger said, Lando putting a McLaren in the top 10 is a wow, another Brit looking like a potential star.

Vettel’s face was class, didn’t know what hit them.

I don't pretend to know much about this sport. Isn't it just the best cars and not the best drivers, though?

Well that certainly was an eye opening race. Fair play to Bottas. He drove his best ever race.

His pace was incredible mate. Nobody ever talks about him as a contender but he genuinely is based on that.

Does seem the damage to Hamilton’s car slowed him down, but he minced the Ferraris and Bulls.

You don’t get to drive for Mercedes if you aren’t a spectacular driver, that much is a fact.

Always rated Bottas as a driver. With Ocon in the wings he will need to prove his class. Last weekend was the perfect start.

Yeah Ocon is there to drive next year, maybe that’s what’s brought Bottas to the front.

He’s got to perform. I still think there’s a lot in them Renault, God’s were against them all weekend but I think there’s a car under there.

Well, that was a bit embarrassing for Ferrari eh? Brilliant race by the 2 Mercs and Verstappen looks quick in that Red Bull, but oh my, Ferrari have some catching up to do mate. I actually thought before the race that they'd been sandbagging a bit, apparently not!!!!

Seb looks in big trouble doesn’t he? Team orders holding back Le Clerc at race one? They were miles off, even after qualifying I thought the Mercs looked a bit twitchy for race day, but they were imperious.

Given that Merc always improve faster looks like a grim season for Ferrari, and dare I say, after expecting a titanic battle, might be a bit dull in a way for us as fans.
