    Old Post:
I'm curious if anyone has heard any rumours about Liverpool's involvement in the ICC this summer yet.

Man Utd and Arsenal have already been confirmed but usually by now there would be a lot of leaked rumours about which clubs are going to be involved and where they will be playing.

I can't find any rumours about the summer yet. Only 6 confirmed teams so far. (They're announcing 3 a day).

Next Wednesday is the big reveal of all teams and locations. Crossing my fingers hoping a game will come within a 4 hour drive of me.

So far Juventus, arsenal, Bayern, man u, Benfica, and AC Milan confirmed but not sure which are playing in N. America and which are playing in Asia.

tbh I've paid no attention at all to new kits or summer tours.... with the whole title race really I've heard nothing.

btw.... I'd really like us to have a couple.at Anfield for once. esp if we have a prem.title to celebrate.

$2500 for flights for five alone. Plus about $500 to get passports for everyone, mine has expired and can't fly on state drivers license any more because my state decided not to follow federal guidelines for drivers licenses... Because... "States rights"

So $3000 if flying before hotels, meals, etc.

Driving would probably be an 18 hour drive each way, essentially a full day in each direction. My wife would insist on renting a bloody minivan or full size SUV for the trip which would cost us a few hundred a day. It wouldn't be so bad driving if we took our own vehicle but she thinks her midsized SUV I bought her is too small for 5 people. :headbang:

To get around NY, I probably wouldn't drive as it's not very practical there. So that's a metro pass, which I think from when I was there was $35 a person... So about another $150.

Hotels and food is more expensive up there and Mrs. won't do anything less than 4 star.

One way or another it would probably run us in the thousands to take a week long trip up there. It needn't. I could do it cheap by myself driving my own high mpg car and only paying for a cheap room to sleep in, I don't need a fancy place to sleep... Too expensive to take family.

Actually it's about $300 not $500 at the moment, just checked... But when I flew for work last it was $500... Guess it fluctuates following oil prices.

It's a lot cheaper flying in Europe than US. I know when my family have flown to Europe they always use European booking to cross Atlantic.

It's also sometimes cheaper to book a flight to a hub by getting a flight where the hub is used as a stop between legs.

For example, if I wanted to fly to Atlanta, I might check the flights to Nashville and look for ones with a stopover in Atlanta and just get off in Atlanta without taking the second leg to Nashville.

Cities like New York and Atlanta that are popular for business travellers and also hubs for certain airlines cost more to fly to than nearby tourist destinations that would use the hub as a stopover.

I might be able to get a cheaper flight to New York by booking a flight to say, Niagra, and looking for a flight to Niagra where I would change planes in New York and just not take my second leg.

I thought atlanta was a major delta hub?

how is it cheaper to ditch your flight? ... hows that making sense to the carriers?

So you are saying book a flight that would have a discounted flight to get a full plane and then dithc the second leg and walk out of airport?

It'd never work for me due to luggage but its interesting.

    Mad.

Atlanta is a Delta hub, yes. That's why a lot of flights have layovers there (for me).

Yes, a flight to Atlanta is often more expensive than a flight somewhere else that stops in Atlanta. The reason: because they CAN charge more. Atlanta doesn't have many tourists, people going there are usually going for business which means they can get away with charging more because people expense their companies.

Tourist destinations are usually cheaper than business destinations.

... And yes, only works with carry-on baggage. The airlines have actually tried suing people that get off early, but have always lost.
