Oliver’s rapid rise up the Football League ladder culminated in him being added to the Select Group of referees for the 2010/11 season. Prior to his time in the Premier League, Oliver was a Football League referee for three years after learning his trade through four years at non-league level. In 2012, his quick progress was rewarded as he was elevated to the FIFA list of referees, making him eligible to take charge of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, as well as international matches. Oliver, whose father Clive was a former Football League referee, was in charge of the 2014 Community Shield match between Manchester City and Arsenal at Wembley. He was the man in the middle at Wembley again in 2016 when he officiated Man City's penalty shootout victory over Liverpool in the League Cup final.
LFC fitness update: Mane, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gomez Jürgen Klopp expects Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum to shake off minor injuries in time to be available for Sunday's clash with Chelsea. Mane sustained a thumb issue in training this week, while Wijnaldum – who was an unused substitute during the midweek win over FC Porto – is nursing a back problem. But the pair should be in contention for the Premier League contest tomorrow. “Sadio fell on his thumb and didn’t train yesterday. He should be OK today,” Klopp told reporters on Friday. “Gini has a bit of a back problem but will train today.” Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not yet in the manager’s thoughts for a first-team return, having featured in a behind-closed-doors game this week. please log in to view this image The midfielder, who has been sidelined since last April due to a long-term knee ligament injury, needs more time to build up full fitness. And the Reds will continue to take a patient approach with Joe Gomez’s recovery from a lower leg fracture after the No.12 was on the bench against Porto. “It’s just been a long time,” said Klopp on Oxlade-Chamberlain. “He played 40 minutes against Derby [last month] and then 60 minutes in an internal game [on Tuesday]. He needs more minutes to play. “It’s difficult because all the others are fit. How can I compare? It looks positive in training, like Joe, but we need to make sure they are really ready. “They were sehttps://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/345713-liverpool-fitness-update-mane-wijnaldum-oxlade-chamberlain-gomezrious injuries. We want to have them for the future, not only one game. That’s why we try to be as serious as possible.”
Back before the AstroTurf knackered my knees I used to play indoor footie. Occasionally we would have a double header with an hour break. A few times we would go for beers in-between games. Not really smart... I could feel it sloshing around as I ran. Didn't really impact us much... We were already the worst team in the league...

#bbcsalford "Ideal scenario is Chelsea to take points off Liverpool, allowing Man Utd to beat Man City in the derby without gifting them league! Spurs to knock City out of the Champions League to end quadruple talk but then lose to them in league to give us better chance of top 4!" #neutral
