Adkins on the last game of the season We’ve got two games before the game and all the lads want to be available. It’s been a good season and we’ve played some good football. Up until the final few weeks of the season we chased down that play-off spot. It’s a meaningful game for Bristol. Adkins on finishing the season well I think you’ve seen the way we’ve played this season we’ve played some excellent football and scores lots of goals. There’s been exciting football and everyone has good memories of that. We want to win the last game. I think everyone should reflect on the season an the football they have enjoyed. You’re not going to play perfect every game. Even the results that went against us we’ve played some good football. We want to do well against Bristol. They need to win it. Win, lose or draw go and enjoy it. There will be a lap of appreciation at the end. We were tipped to be relegated and the spirit of this team has meant we’ve done well. 'It's been a successful season' It’s fair to say having stayed up last season we lost a lot of players, the word sustainability was used all the way through the summer. We should be reflecting on a successful season and this is a tough division. We knew the play-offs were a long shot but we had the opportunity to dream about it. It’s been great. From my point of view we have the Player of the Year night on Tuesday and the players can go and have a well-earned break. Adkins on the summer ahead This will be the last time this group of players will be together, there will always be change. Some players will be here some will move on that’s life and that makes this week poignant. The culture is good and they do all the things people don’t see together. We have a spirit and a character and everyone is working hard. That’s not an easy thing to achieve. We should enjoy the final game of the season. We reflect on this year being a successful season.
Got tickets for N2 for Sunday only second game this season ..... Chance to see some of our players for the last time just seemed the right thing to do. Hopefully the owners will **** off soon and we can all come back full time............. Groundhog year
I can’t make today as my lad has a match. Bit of a pain. But I wish the players leaving the club all the best. It’s been a funny old season, but they’ve given it everything and you can’t fault the endeavour. A real shame the team is being broken up (I know there’s some we won’t be able to keep) a few sensible additions could have seen a genuine push next season. Instead I’m not sure what we can expect other than another mass upheaval with less quality incoming and another tilt at avoiding relegation.
They were saying on TV they were going to be putting money into the team next season to give things a boost when they move to their new stadium? Is this why you say that?
Their wage bill is already over £17m, our proposed wage bill for next season is much lower than that.
Here could be an even bigger difference if they do up there spending then. Some clubs might be asking questions when Norwich with a wage bill of £20 million got automatic promotion, as did Sheff U whose wage bill won't be much higher I would imagine, whilst they have spent a whole lot more to scramble for play off places.
Norwich must have a far higher wage bill than that, it was £54.2m last season and they only got rid of a couple of first team players, who they replaced. Sheffield United’s was £19m last season, which was almost double the previous season.
Both managers did a superb job, painful as it is to say that. Norwich as they had to sell and were in real trouble and wilder, hate the horrible little ****, moulded a ream of **** all really into a promoted team. Excellent job by both. Not see
In what way have the operating models of Brentford and Hull City been similar in, say, any of the last five seasons? I’m struggling to be honest.
Wilder has got results and promotions wherever he has been. He must be in dream land leading a club he supports back to the PL.
