Caulker doesn't count, he was a 6 month loan signing.

It was a loan and hardly worth going into. It's like criticising Klopp on Grujic chance signing likely to be sold for a profit. Solanke, chance signing that was sold for a huge profit. Karius, a dud but a £4.75 million dud. It's hardly like Serge Aurier or Luke Shaw £32.5 million flops. Criticising Klopp on Caulker is extremely harsh. It's not like he cost the same amount as the Belgian Heskey Lukaku or Carlton Palmer with a fancy haircut Pogba. A combined £183.5 million.

Signings are signings mate. Caulker was a poor signing but not a massive mistake

    For me:

what was the objective of the signings?

Stephn Caulker On loan. had lovren and who? club wanted a bit of cover.
Marko Grujić Red Star Belgrade £5,100,000 6th Jan, 2016 - speculative, turns a profit.
Kamil Grabara Ruch Chorzow £300,000 15th Jan, 2016 - academy keeper
Sadio Mane Southampton £30,000,000 28th Jun, 2016 - first team.
    Loris Karius Mainz 05 £4,700,000 1st Jul, 2016 - MISS
    Joel Matip Schalke 04 £0 1st Jul, 2016 - first team
Ragnar Klavan FC Augsburg £4,200,000 20th Jul, 2016 - cheap back up
Alex Manninger Free Transfer £0 22nd Jul, 2016 - cheap back up
Georginio Wijnaldum Newcastle United £25,000,000 22nd Jul, 2016 - first team- everyone shocked
Nat Phillips Bolton £0 1st Aug, 2016 - academy player
Mohammed Salah AS Roma £34,000,000 22nd Jun, 2017 - first team
Dominic Solanke Chelsea £0 1st Jul, 2017 sold for big profit
Andy Robertson Hull City £8,000,000 21st Jul, 2017 - first team
    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Arsenal £35,000,000 31st Aug, 2017 - first team
Virgil van Dijk Southampton £75,000,000 1st Jan, 2018 -first team
Fabinho AS Monaco £39,300,000 28th May, 2018 - first team
Naby Keïta RB Leipzig £52,500,000 1st Jun, 2018 - first team
Xherdan Shaqiri Stoke City £13,500,000 13th Jul, 2018 - cheap back up to afford alisson
Alisson AS Roma £56,250,000 19th Jul, 2018 - first team
    Ki-Jana Hoever Ajax £0 - academy smash n grab

    As of today....
    Karius was the only flop
Klvan was bought to be cheap back up at left CB. He was that
Manninger was bought to be 3rd keeper and let ward go on loan - result is ward transfer fee of 12mil
solanke was a punt as he was out of contract and bournemouth made a big bid. He was never good enough for us.
Shaqiri was signed to be cheap back up up front cos he bought alisson. Proved at least worth it if not very flexible as a player
caulker is a cheap loan as emergency reserve. Kopp had at the time lovren, sahko, and kolo toure and skertl. Frnakly caulker was 24 and cost nothing but didn't work out. could have been an edwards brain fart off a spreadsheet for all we know.

That proves my point there was never anything wrong with the investment previously, it was the recruitment. Klopps recruitment is at a very high level. His success rate is extremely high, his only flop really being £4.75 million Karius.

    the thing is.... who left?

Rodgers. ayre... the scouts and Edwards and Gordon are all there still. so how can an infighting... bartering... rank "committee" be transformed just cos klopp is there.

there has to be a very very strong influence of klopp.. no I want him.. no not him.... him.. there's very few that klopps not all over. Robertson is one, klopps made a few comments about being recommended people.

Yes Klopp did say he was recommended players, Klopp himself didn't want Mo Salah, he wanted Julian Brandt. When the list of centre backs came up, there were a dozen. Klopp dug his heels in and said Van Dijk or nobody.

However some targets were easier. Klopp wanted Andy Robertson, he also wanted Sadio Mane whom he was following since Mane was at Red Bull Salzburg. There were a few more like AOC, Alisson Becker (Klopp wanted Jan Oblak) thst more discussion was needed. Fabinho and Keita were thoroughly discussed.

I don't believe klopps comments on Robertson would.lead me to believe he wanted him..I think he said he went with his scouts recommendation.

klopp is certainly.on record on aoc, mane, keita, vvd about how he had followed them for years.

Klopp didn't want Robbo. He played Moreno and Milner ahead of Andy for the first 4-5months ffs.

Robbo eventually played due to injury

He just eased him in. Same with Chamberlain and Fabinho.
