The only problems I had with how GOT ended was how they killed off the major villain, I just felt she deserved a better death than having a ton of bricks dropped on her! Then how they killed off her replacement so easily, although I could see that one coming & I think it was the right person to kill her. Outside of that, the last episode was a bit slow, but again, what can be done when you kill off someone so easily. I was really hoping Cersei wasn’t dead after last week & she still had a part to play.
Drogon doesn't wipe out Jon after the death of Daenrys - pathetic Tyrion acting all the way through this episode like he is in a Shakespeare Tragedy - doesn't come off Tyrion not immediately "fired" by Drogon after his denouncement of Daenrys in her moment of triumph - pathetic Jon going back to Castle Black - for what? There is no one left to defeat. Bran - all seeing, all knowing and wimp to boot - King of all the Kingdoms - apparently and without question,he deserves to be King of everybody because he holds all the old stories!!!!!!!!! Ser Davos - what role had he to play in anything since his finest hour "This is Jon Snow, King in the North." The Unsullied & Drothaki just bog off back to Esos after their Queen had been murdered - that is exactly what you would do............NOT Arya - wants to kill all the main culprits but ultimately, after rejecting marriage, sails off westward in Christolfo Colombo mode - that is an open ended departure and maybe it allows the story to continue? The new council is set up to be a comedy crew - the jokes just don't seem funny for this last episode. Just like the last shortened final season of House of Cards, this has been forgettable
Was a bit weird, but I assume it's because Jon is a Targaryen. Pathetic is a bit harsh. Peter Dinklage's acting in this episode was superb, **** knows what you're on about. Drogon flew off seconds earlier. He wasn't there. Again, pathetic - you okay? Regardless of who there is to defeat, people were sent to Castle Black as a punishment, it was essentially a prison where if you went back south you were executed, and if you went North the Freefolk would kill you. People didn't believe the White Walkers existed and were still sent there anyways, because it was a prison. Castle Black is still a prison, at least in the eyes of the south - just that there are no enemies to the north anymore, hence why Jon just leads the Freefolk further North instead of staying at Castle Black. Despite it coming out of nowhere, he is the only choice who has no baggage that could cloud his judgement - no emotions to affect him, no allegiances other than to the living as a whole, and the most knowledgeable choice. Also, the only choice who all of the leaders would agree on and had no enemies left alive. Calling him a wimp is a bit harsh, he's a cripple for ****s' sake. Davos isn't a main character, I'm not sure what you expected. Daenerys said they would be leaving to 'liberate' other nations. A good chunk of them were going to be leaving regardless. She's hinted several times throughout the series she wants to know what's west of Westeros. Also, because of the **** she's gone through, she doesn't feel at home anymore and probably wouldn't be able to just have a peaceful life. Makes sense she'd leave. That bit was weird, I will agree. The idea that Tyrion isn't mentioned in the book in which his imprisonment in the first season kicked off the War of the Five Kings in the first place is ****ing ridiculous, not even mentioning everything he did that happened afterward. Also Bronn as Master of Coin seems a pretty bad choice. Guess it helps being mates with the Hand... House of Cards was shortened for pretty good reasons, to be fair. Which is a shame, because Claire Underwood was always a much more interesting character imo.
Thank you for your detailed response Quill. You are correct - I have used undeserved terminology for some of the characters above. I need to step back a little and cast a colder eye.
Oddly enough, Kit Harrington was the only character adaption I really felt wasn't right. I really liked Jon in the books, but found him annoying, how he was portrayed on the TV. Can't put a finger on why though; whether its the irritating accent or the stupid girly hair. Maybe its just how he wasn't the magnetic talisman he was in the books.
It was a bit lame when Tyrion walked through the rubble to find Jamie and Cersei. There were a few piles of bricks about but other than that most of the floor looked like it had been swept. I thought the entire roof caved in?
It was the fact that Kit is a seriously lame actor. JS was in the company of some seriously good ones, and it made him stand out even more as a lane duck.
The meeting of the nobles or whatever it was a pretty lame plot device just to get all the characters back together. I had even forgot about the tit sucking boy and the crap uncle character, not to mention the hammy pirate lady. Will still watch the spin-offs though as I have a feeling they could be better than the main series.
For me the biggest gear crunch was all the other nobles just accepting the North being independent and not wanting it themselves. I'm pretty sure the Ironborn and Dorn would be saying yes please us too....
I see it another way. If, yes a big if, this is Martins ending, he has a lot of writing to do to get those characters all in the same place and at the same time. The delay in the publishing of the next book in the series, yes, Martin is notoriously slow, but, it suggests to me he is struggling with how to construct this gathering at the dragon pit.
Couple of bits to add to the above: The UnSullied as free people choose to go to Narth, to fulfil the promise their leader Grey Worm as made to Missandei earlier in the season. Bronn as master of coin makes sense, as he is now the lord of Highgarden and the Reach, which since the gold in Casterly Rock ran out is most likely the richest of the houses by far, so that makes some sense. The massive bits that don't make sense are the Iron Islands and Dorne accepting the North as a separate kingdom without raising their own claims, given they'd both gone to war and been fisted over this in the past. They should both have kicked off massively and demanded similar
I'm not sure that the Iron Islands have enough resources to be independent now. Euron stripped the islands for his armada, they'll have **** all now. Yara's been home so she knows she needs to play the long game. Of thrones.
You have spoilt it for some now, Chazz. They have now set up a counselling service, honestly, for people bereft at losing their beloved series to ring and help them cope. We never got help like that when Terry and June finished.
Over 1 million people have signed a petition to have the whole season filmed again because they don't like how it ended. I don't know why, Terry getting that goldfish at the fete was ****ing genius.
