If you get chance to see The Hired Man at Hull Truck I’d thoroughly recommend it.
Seriously emotional though. From farm working and mining to Passchendaele.

    Went tonight

    HDM Watch: Part 34666368764

“People from Hull and East Yorkshire have the opportunity to visit the nuclear exclusion zone at Chernobyl thanks to Humberside Airport Travel, who are offering a special package that will take you for a trip into its heart, reports Grimsby Live.

The spot in Pripyat in Northern Ukraine still boasts pockets of radiation following a nuclear reactor meltdown in April 1986.”

    Boasts? ****ing boasts?

I realise the HDM synonym capability range must come from the arse end of yapping idiotsville, and ultimately the article is actually about a stupid form of tourism, but ‘boasts’ for ****’s sake…

I went to an interesting talk at the Ferens today. One of the Queen's art curators talked about the drawing of Sir Thomas More by Hans Holbein the Younger. It was good to see someone who really enjoyed what they were doing.

Only 3000 odd people have died from the direct blast or radiation exposure since the meltdown but hey, lets go take selfies at the scene of the world worst nuclear accident, ****s

So you wouldn't go and visit Auschwitz then? Or the site of the Twin Towers?

I’ve been to Auschwitz – was in the nearby area and despite being very interested in the history concerning the ghastly place, I never intended to go. But ended up going.

I was quite appalled by some of the behaviour I saw. People taking photos in restricted areas, people entering restricted areas and people taking photos (thumbs up and grinning) underneath the “Arbeit Macht Frei” signage.

I think the point here is one of being respectful to your surroundings.

No probably not unless I was in the area, but I wouldn’t make it a special trip just to go see them, the Chernobyl one is weird because the place is still highly radioactive so why would you put yourself at risk

    I can Donald that.

    https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink/shift-hull-takeaway-needs-security-2979484

"After gaining access to the chips order on the till, I then asked the customer if he wanted spice on his chips, and was quickly made aware by Mets of faux pas I had just committed - in Hull takeaways in Hull, you never ask people if they want spice, you just know they do. That was me told.
Being fairly new to Hull, I didn't know of the unwritten rule that unless people tell you, it is assumed they want spice."

How can you damage an off road vehicle by hitting a plastic bin? and I guess his parking sensors don't work. He should move on and try claiming off someone else, the bin manufacturer and/or Land Rover.

That's sad. It wasn't my experience at all. Myself, Denis and our good ladies visited and I recall a very respectful and eerie silence from the crowds there. It is a harrowing and ver somber experience (everyone ought to go at least once), so much so that we actually needed a good drink that evening.
