WOW - Praise for the ex 'Mayor of Norwich' in this article - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/mclean-and-pirlo-comparison-1-6104481
Yes, McLean was MotM in their game against Belgium and hopefully his international experience will help him in the PL. "Kenny is elegant and pleasing on the eye and I actually see him in a role like Pirlo, he moved back into area and that's the range of passing Kenny has," said Lennon, who gave McLean his St Mirren debut in 2010. "And that was him up against the likes of De Bruyne, guys at the top level. He's matured and his range of passing is fantastic, I thought he also controlled the game in the San Marino match; and a lot of his passes were 10, 15 yards, he was playing people in and then going for that longer one. He is a really intelligent player. Kenny can do a bit of both, he can play in that deeper role but he can also go beyond because he's got a terrific engine." That sort of multiple role capability (and I'd include his DM capability as well) could prove to be very important for us next season.
The Paderborn fixture, part of our German tour, has been cancelled. Supposedly that was Norwich's decision. Curious as to the reason behind that, maybe we've had a better offer...?
please log in to view this image Lucid Analytics have had a first stab at a simulated table, no idea what's behind it. Watford relegated and Southampton above United are big predictions!
Was going to post this on the youth page but as he is a first team regular now have promoted him. Sky report that Godfrey is about to sign.....a new 5 year contract. Brilliant news, hope Max, Jamal and Todd follow suit.
Didn't Max and Jamal sign 4 or 5 year deals last season? along with Louis Thompson? Todd I believe is in his last year of contract with the recent extension
I think Vrancic and Cantwell would be next on the list to renew with both of their deals due to be up at the end of the season
Webber has already mentioned in the press that contract talks are underway with both. Mario seems easier to resolve, whilst Cantwell (or his agent...) appear to have a different valuation to the club.
The funny thing is that of all our promising youngsters Cantwell is the one I'm least concerned about keeping.
Compared to Lewis, Aarons and Godfrey, his impact last season was certainly more limited. There's undoubtedly talent there, but I don't see him as being ready to step up in the way the others are. Promotion probably came at the wrong time for his City career. Webber has made it clear he's offering what he feels is a good deal, in line with our wage structure. I think maintaining that structure is far more important than keeping hold of Cantwell. If we have to sell this summer, I'd be disappointed but ultimately it'll have been his decision.
He made a big impression on loan at Fortuna Sittard. Maybe he has opportunities over there and sees playing on the continent as the best way of advancing his career.
