  1. Fair play to him for taking the fight in the guy's back yard. That takes real balls <yikes>

As expected Dubois was far far too powerful and aggressive for Gorman

Still dont like Dubois's predictability of a left jab followed by a right hand over the top. Even though a double jab followed by a clubbing right hand ended the fight. Would like to see him use the left hook and uppercut a bit more when close up.

Needs to mix it up a bit when he steps in with the bigger boys that's for sure.

A quote from Hughie Fury. "I put myself in the top five in the world."

BoxRec has him at No 6 in the UK. <laugh>

I just heard that Pernell "Sweetpea" Whitaker has died. What a truly great boxer and was utterly and disgracefully robbed against Chavez.

RIP to one of the greats.

Here's a sad senario. I wonder if it's true? A Philippine journalist named Conrad Carino has fears that the great Manny Pacquiao may be thrown in front of Keith Thurman as a form of road kill, in an effort to promote a mega fight between Errol Spence and Keith Thurman. Pacquiao, Thurman and Spence are all contracted to Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions.

At 40, Manny's career is rapidly coming to an end so here's hoping he does really well next weekend. There'll a lot of people (me included) wishing for a Pacquiao win. His record shows him to be one of the all time greats, and when it's over, he'll be missed.

If forced into a punt, my money would be on Thurman.

    4-5. Pacquiao.
    6-5. Thurman.

Plus Thurman looked awful in last fight.
Even if he wins Spence is far too good for him.

Thurman hasn't been the same since his return has he? A few years back, he was rated the best welterweight in the game, but he hasn't looked the same fighter since the injury. And for mine, at best, he could be 3 behind Spence and Crawford ... maybe.

I don't think he's been sacrificed for it but I expect Thurman to come through it comfortably. Can't believe he's odds against

According to the title, this was the final day of Pacman's training. Does it actually tell us anything? Is 3 minutes of fast hand work enough to make us believe he can overcome his 40 years?

He's always had fast hands. But I can tell you one thing, at 40 he isnt improving. Hard to say what he has left, but I would suggest that he doesnt have a lot.

Finally, some movement from the front office.

    Quote from the WBC.

The World Boxing Council and Matchroom Boxing are delighted to confirm that Saturday’s bout between Dillian Whyte (25-1 18 KOs) and Oscar Rivas (26-0 18 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London will be contested for the WBC Interim World Heavyweight Championship.

The winner of the bout will become Mandatory Challenger for the WBC Heavyweight World Championship, currently held by Deontay Wilder.

Interesting insights into the Thurman -Pacquiao bout from Manny's mate Buboy. It looks as though there'll be some feeling in the fight.

    3-4 Pacquiao.

    11-8 Thurman.

There are a few fights this weekend that look like they might be worth a look at. One will involve seriously talented man, while others will match fighter's a rung or two below the elite level.

Of the serious boxers, Luis Nery should have it pretty easy against Juan Carlos Payano and will be looking for the bigger fights. Boxrec has Nery ranked at No1 in the world even though he doesn't own a belt. (Inoue is No1 for mine.) Ney was the WBC Bantamweight Title but lost it at the weigh in. He came in massively overweight and savagely beat down the challenger. He's also tested dirty to zilpaterol in 2017 but was cleared on the "contaminated food" defence. In this day and age, cheats in all sports can get to go with their careers, so dirty or not, we get to see some serious athletes at work. Nery is one of them.

I'm looking forward to the Dave Allen - David Price fight. It doesn't mean all that much in the heavyweight scene, but the two Brits have something to prove. Allen is a grinder with a chin and decent hands, while Price has a massive height and reach advantage, but is suss when it comes to chin and stamina. Dave Allen will have huge crowd support. The constant chant of, "There's only one Dave Allen" will be testament to the man's popularity. I'm on the Dave Allen bandwagon. His interviews on Youtube are a delight.

And we get to see if Dillian Whyte has taken a further step in his development as a heavyweight. He needs to look the goods against Oscar Rivas if he's to be considered a real chance against the likes of Wilder, Fury, Ruiz and Joshua.

    4-17 Whyte.
    15-4 Rivas.

A bit of an insight into the Dave Allen - David Price fight. David Price has a 5 inch height and an 8 inch reach advantage over the White Rhino Dave Allen. In the interview below, Dave Allen mentions a fight with Povetkin. From what I gather, that fight is now secure, just as long as gets through Price. This is my fight of the weekend.
