I know you're joking, Cromer, but it's still only a loan for the season. SW's reputation should be safe. I wander what we'll have to pay for Amadou if we stay up?
FANTASTIC news if true on JR and well done SW for calling Wendies bluff!!! #dilligaf Translation - does it look I give a **** He'll probably say he had more to spend because of improved - sponsorship deals/shirt sales/membership sales* delete as applicable!!! Edit - We'll have the money, so not a problem!!!
FANTASTIC to see that the team spirit/togetherness is stronger than ever and also to see how TC has improved since last season - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-ace-fired-up-for-liverpool-opener-1-6198846 'We didn't win an award to go up, we won the title' - Canaries ace fired up for Liverpool opener
Very good balanced view of the latest news on Amadou: https://norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk...-reliable-report-suggesting-the-deal-is-done/ It does seem that negotiations are going on. The less reliable source in the Twitter quote distils down to this via Google translate: "Sevilla negotiates with the English Premier League club the loan until the end of the season and the talks are advanced. That way, there are missing fringes that are being cut step by step, after Norwich has agreed to take full charge of the pivot's salary, which amounts to three million gross euros. In addition, as this newspaper has been able to know, the contract includes the payment of one million euros for the transfer and a purchase option at the end of the course of 9.5 million euros so that the Norwich can take over the services of the player to definitive title." I particularly like the "missing fringes that are being cut step by step" bit.
I think this news article is the source: https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2019/08/06/amadou-firmara-hoy-norwich-city/237044.html
Yes that's an update on their previous report. If true, it sounds like Amadou could be at CR for a medical today.
Plus Rhodes, if true, will certainly be on a more realistic salary than his reported Wendies extravagance. At least, I would hope so.
Can you honestly see frugal Dougal shelling out £8m on a third choice striker? http://www.scotzine.com/2019/08/lennon-favourite-in-8m-sweat/
Vital Norwich has a further update on Amadou here: https://norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk...defensive-midfielder-after-agreement-reached/ The original source said that the option to buy next season would only happen if we stay up. This seems to be similar to the Fährmann deal where we pay all the wages and a loan fee, except for the buy option next year. If that does happen I'd think he would become the permanent replacement for Tettey next season.
It seems that DF now sees Srbeny as a second striker/AM option along with Stiepermann and Cantwell, which would leave us with 3 players in each position plus Idah if he doesn't go out on loan.
Surely our Forwards are Pukki Drmic Rhodes and Idah? AMs are Roberts Buendia Cantwell Stiepermann and Hernandez We also have Vrancic and Mclean who can both play AM. Id say Srbeny is surplus to requirements, even if Idah does go out on loan.
I'd think Idah is more likely to get a loan than Srbeny. Idah needs first team minutes more, and Srbeny has more versatility within the squad than Idah. Farke does seem to like a physical CAM, which Stiepermann does well, and Srbeny appears to be learning.
I think ideally Idah would go out on loan, but he can't unless we sign another striker. Rhodes is a very safe option, he'd be a decent 3rd striker and we know he fits in to our ethos.
Srbeny is being touted with a move to Luton or Darmstadt on loan too. Oxford is a good level for Idah, hope he can make an impact.
David Freezer @davefreezer 1h From what we've heard, the Amadou interest is accurate, not signed and sealed yet though. L'Equipe very reliable and if they say he's flying in today, it's down to #NCFC to seal it.
It's all moving on very quickly, it seems. Agree with DH that Oxford would be an excellent loan deal fo Idah. Luton would also be good for Srbeny. If Idah does well there, logically he could be the future replacement for Rhodes eventually. It strikes me that Rhodes's style of play would be less affected by age than a striker like Pukki. If Amadou and Rhodes both come in our chances of survival are certainly looking a lot more solid. Just noticed that Bielsa made Amadou club captain in the 2017-18 season, so his character must be pretty good in terms of fitting into our squad. Video compilation on Amadou here:
Ideal end to the window would be for us to finish with this squad: Krul Fahrmann McGovern Lewis Heise Godfrey Klose Zimmermann Hanley Aarons Byram Amadou Trybull Drinkwater Tettey Mclean Leitner Vrancic Hernandez Cantwell Stiepermann Buendia Roberts Pukki Rhodes Drmic Id be well happy with that! I know the likelihood of us getting both Amadou AND Drinkwater are extremely slim, but wouldn't it be great?!
