No interest for me in the Shergar Cup. It's akin to It's A Knockout for me and the team format doesn't work in a Horse Racing setting. Bookies benefit with an all handicap card. Pure "Barry White" from my own point of view.

In the 3.10 Newmarket Motawaj bids for a hat-trick after romping home last time but he was on 82 that day and now the handicapper has thumped him up to 97. Could have more to come but there is no escaping the fact that he was ridiculously well handicapped off 82 and that mark is gone forever now. At 5/2 I'll pass.

I have done Barristan The Bold a couple of times this season and he ran well without winning. As ever, he popped up at 5/1 when I wasn't on. He's at a mile today though and all three career wins have come at 7F, so I can't back him today.

Beatboxer won at 20/1 with what was a career best effort that saw him raised to 102. He couldn't get involved from the 7 lb higher mark next time and has only been dropped 1 lb for that effort. He looks too high on 101 to me. Davydenko also disappointed in the same race last time, as did Dubai Legacy who probably ran from the wrong side in the Britannia Handicap where high numbers were favoured.

If we take Dubai Legacy's poor effort last time out I feel his 3rd place to Beat Le Bon at Goodwood gives him an excellent chance here. The Hannon horse followed up in his next two races looking a decent yardstick who was a tough opponent for Dubai Legacy. Still unexposed and in first time cheek-pieces I am hoping Dubai Legacy will strike inside the final furlong to reward support at 4/1.

    3.10 Newmarket Dubai Legacy 4/1

In the Sweet Solera I am sticking with Ultra Violet. An eight length winner on debut she didn't beat a lot and the form has not worked out but with big margin winners it is almost impossible for the beaten ones to show much unless the winner is exceptional. Stepping up a furlong I think Ultra Violet should be given a chance to show that she can improve from her sole start and for the seventh furlong. I have seen a few pundits who think that Ultra Violet will not amount to much and Simon Rowlands only gave her 1/5 in terms of potential star quality when assessing some of the unexposed juvenile winners of the season. I'll go against the trend and give her another chance to build on a nice first time out effort.

    3.45 Newmarket Ultra Violet 4/1

Two singles and a double for me today.

Wasn't going to bother today but decided to have a dabble in the next at Ascot with two horses.

    Vivid Diamond 6/1
    Zuba 13/2

Win single on both and reverse forecast

quite an open race.i think,ASIAN ANGEL has a solid e w shout,if raising his game again a bit.has some useful formlines on his recent starts, and he seems a typical hardy johnston horse.so,with his yard in excellent shape,a good run may be forthcoming today..

Was surprised they made Ultra Violet favourite last night and unsurprisingly has been on the drift, still unexposed but didnt achieve much on debut to be favourite for a Group 3.

West End GIrl and Light Blush are closely matched from a messy race at Sandown, that sets the standard in this race but hard to call a winner between them in this rematch so went for Soffika 13/2, she looked a nice type and interesting Stoute pitches her in at this level, step up to 7f should bring about improvement and should have come on plenty for the debut.

as i have stated already a few times, richard hannon is often my "go-to" man in these events, and this is no exception,as he fields the thrice raced DARK LADY here.shes been running with great credit each time, and had a a nightmare run through last time out.would have been much closer otherwise.so,should go very well again, and seriously considered..

Well the best form in the race wins, there was a definite case to say West End Girl was an unlucky loser last at Sandown. Soffika was quite unlucky I thought, completely cut off when just getting into full flight, shed be the obvious one to take from the race going forward.

You really have to wonder who was backing Ultra Violet late on, some serious late money came for it and maybe just mugs jumping on. Shows why sectionals are so important in showing what a horse actually achieved when winning by a wide margin, in this case, not a lot.

SOMEWHERE SECRET and spirit power have already met this season, where the latter won,but the former is much better off now,as he can run off the same mark as then, whereas his rival has gone up 6 lbr since.also does he have a very good record at this course,so should be bang there today.

Nothing to do with sectionals. The horse lit up from the off, poor ride from the jockey sending all the wrong signals to the horse. Race was over after a furlong.

Rowlands is a good guy, gives you the time of day if you message him unlike most id imagine, not many I would be inclined to message in the first place. He said this about Ultra Violet debut.

OLIVER HARDY is at the top of his game right now,and though up another 9 lbr for his latest win,hes surely capable of a hat trick today.
